I would like an acknowledgement notice sent automatically when ever someone sponsors or donates
to a group. I appreciate the the way a notice is automatically sent when someone leaves the group.

Per my message on this subject on GMF, I received a notification when I tested the sponsorship feature.  How would your user-defined member notice differ?

My members have reported that they never received an acknowledgment for receipt or a sponsorship on groups.io.

Can you show me what you received? Are you moving the conversation over to GMF? I am new here and I don't know
what is supposed to happen after making a suggestion :-)

No. I didn't misunderstand your intent. I received a message after I made a sponsorship. What I didn't pick up on initially was that the message was sent to me as an Owner/Mod of my group not as the member.

This leads me to other thoughts on using Member Notices for this purpose though. What I would want as a member who sponsored a group is an acknowledgement of that sponsorship that shows the amount.  The amount will vary between members but there is no facility at present to define variables or symbolic parameters in a Member Notice where the amount could be inserted.

I agree with you that it would be helpful for members to receive an acknowledgement of sponsorship but think that a fixed format notification rather than a free format Member Notice allowing substitution of variable amounts would be simpler and quicker to implement.

I'm sure that an acknowledgment/receipt to the member for sponsorship or a donation would be appreciated.  In the meantime, any member, once signed in to the site, can go to https://groups.io/account?page=billing to see a summary of any payments they've made.  This is covered in the Members Manual, https://groups.io/helpcenter/membersmanual/1/sponsoring-groups-to-help-cover-their-hosting.

That would work for me.  It sounds like the first part would go to group owners/mods and the second to the member.  If the member notice doesn't include the amount, it could include a link to the member's Billing page so they could verify it.  That same format/link could be used for automatic acknowledgement of Donations instead of a separate notice type.
