I'm happy to revisit the idea of not sending you notifications based on your own actions. If so, please start a new topic.

I may be in the minority, but I prefer receiving notifications no matter who caused them to happen.  I'm not saying I NEED this.  But it helps.  So I opened a new topic where others can discuss it.

For me, it's comforting to know that an action I did worked.  Without confirmation, it leaves me wondering.

For that reason, as a workaround, I even created a dummy co-moderator who is me, for the sole purpose of receiving those notifications that are not sent to me.

Maybe there could be a checkbox in Moderator Notifications, to enable/disable notifications from one's own actions.

Like Andy, I appreciate notifications via email.

I keep requests to join, prospective members’ response to the questions posed to verify that they belong in my group, and confirmation of their subscription in a folder of my email client on my computer. This allows me to go back and grab information later on if they’ve signed off accidentally and need to rejoin. Or if they submit a message without their full name, which is required in order for each message to be approved by moderators, I can look up their info on my laptop and quickly edit their message for completeness.

I’m sure other owners and mods will have their own reasons for wanting at least the *option* of continuing to receive the same notifications we’ve long been getting.

With much gratitude,

Patty Stokes, Berlin Scholars

I used to be in the same camp but then the notification combiner was introduced which delays email notifications being sent. When testing and trying out various options I may make several changes in relatively quick succession and I found it irritating and sometimes confusing to receive an email about something I did nearly 10 minutes before. By that time, I had already moved on. My view changed to 'confirm the change immediately or not at all' so now I am more than happy with the approach that means I do not get confirmations about changes I made myself.

I can see that.

But I also see the view that someone else might want to receive email confirmation.  I have a co-moderator who does everything by email alone.  Someone like that would depend on email confirmations.  That's why I'm suggesting making it an option.
