I presume you're the owner of groupsio.com (as it is a registered domain), so did you ever use that in earlier times? Roger

Mark, I'm seeing delay again with Spectrum/TWC. As of 2 o'clock.

Chris,
One of the reasons I wanted to use a group rather than do bulk email from my own IP is that I encountered this problem and it wasn’t stable. Every provider has different criteria, few of them report the bouncing (gmail in particular). It has been a real problem for two or three years now. I’ve attempted to get support but failed miserably, no answer to support emails, nothing. Many asking for fees to unblock, etc. One colleague said: just get “G Suite”. I think that exactly what Google want. There’s something going on and I can’t believe it’s only about spam. Imagine if you post man filtered your mail before he put it though your letter box. That’s exactly what these providers are doiung, makinf devisions for us anmd not giving us any support to fix it and authenticate our business activity.
But, for those who wonder why we pay, we have a (real person) who attempts to fix things for us.
Cheers
John Wirtz

That’s useful, how do you do it?

You can set a filter in Gmail so it never sends messages from Groups.IO to spam.

Good that some of them treat spamhaus itself as spam! :-)

With Spamhaus, we've now been blocked 3 times in the last week. They give me the times that they've seen spam, within +/- 5 minutes. I've gone through the logs and tried to correlate email addresses that we've sent messages to during those times. That has resulted in 2 email addresses, both of which are legit and long term subscribers to multiple groups that have received a lot of email over the past several days. It could be that messages are being delayed as they're routed to Spamhous, so the time frames given may be incorrect. Or something else. Clearly I'm missing something. They responded to my email yesterday afternoon with a canned response about checking for malware on my server. I responded immediately, and have not gotten anything back as of yet. They say do not try to send multiple emails to support, so I've been holding off. There was an instance maybe a year and a half ago, where a group transferred from Yahoo. One of the email addresses was a honeypot email address for the Trend Micro blocklist. That email address had been on the Yahoo Group for years previously. But when the group moved over here, that triggered a block. I wonder if something similar is happening here. Mark

It would appear that not all email providers are blocking Groups.IO messages because of the
Spamhaus
action. Apparently some, including Gmail, are simply putting some or all of them in Spam folders. For example, I've started getting a fair number of Groups.IO messages placed erroneously in my Gmail spam folder which previously almost never happened. Bob

The problem is that Spamhaus has blacklisted Groups.io and service providers are reacting accordingly by bouncing Groups.io traffic in its entirety, not shunting it into individual's spam boxes. At the moment it seems to be OK, but who knows what the next few hours will bring... Chris

Thank you Bob, yes, will do if it continues. I just
find it "strange" that this seems to happen while io groups is
facing blacklisting in various places. I usually only have real
spam in the spam folder.

Hi All, We were blocked again by Spamhaus last night for a few hours. They have not been helpful as of yet, and I have not been able to isolate what address is causing the blocking. Good news is that I've gotten word from Charter that they have removed the block. So, some progress. Thanks, Mark

It appears most places are no longer blocking us because of this listing,I mentioned the problem long ago in GMF. Italian ISP Telecom (which owns email providers alice.it, aliceposta.it, tin.it) has been rejecting Groups.io messages for months with the following error message: "smtp.aliceposta.it: 550 mail not accepted from blacklisted IP address [66.175.222.12] " Nearly all my members in hard bounce status have an account linked to Telecom. I didn't find a way to contact Telecom about this and eventually I gave up trying. Thank you for all your work, Mark. Marina
