Maybe bold would resolve the weight discrepancy if it were possible to select a custom bold that is not too "thick"?

Oh yes, now I recall that did that for me too - but not now. Something glitchy going on.

No menu opens up on firefox for me (or for a test member who was the person who brought it to my attention).

Hi Mark, after our conversation, I decided to change my mail delivery to Digest Full Featured.  I received my first one today and much to my surprise, the index does not show who the message is from.  It shows it when you scroll through all of the messages, but I would like to be able to look at the index and see the sender's name and click on that to go right to it.  I don't want to scroll through all of them.

Any chance that could be changed to include the user ID?

Thank you,

PS Why am I getting the space between each line from Thank you on down?

Maria,

What am I missing with regard to this button? I see it, it's called
"actions" but when i click on it I am not offered a menu of actions...?

Even if I have a group clicked...
With one or more groups checkmarked it opens a menu for me:

Unsubscribe
No Email
All Email
Plain ADigest
Full Featured Digest
Special Notices Only

I did notice a glitch though: the menu opened below the bottom of the screen, and caused a second scroll bar to appear (one spanning only the list of groups, plus the Actions button and menu). I had to scroll down within this secondary scroll region to see the menu.

Diddo in the topics list in the digest - the subjects in the list should be more intense or bold - as the hashtags dominate.

To clarify: I am not at all requesting that the sort order change. The messages should continue to appear by posting date (IMAO). But I think that the date needs to be displayed in the list.

That button actually opens a drop down box, but I didn't initially see it because it was below the bottom of the screen. I'd like to see this and other drop down boxes cause the screen to move up at least a few lines so I'd be more ware that it was there.

Maria,

In our group, if one want's to "save" a past post in order to refer to
it one can bookmark it in one's browser.
I don't follow your logic here. Are you saying that members are prohibited from electing to receive individual messages, or prohibited from keeping them? If not, they get to save the past post in an email folder. And they can reply to it from there.

That's no different from what I've proposed (if the feature is limited to the term of one's membership). The only difference is whether the member received the message when first posted or received it later.

In essence, it is sorted by a date that does not even show any more.

locked Subject font in message/thread view daker? bolder?

Maria

I know I've mentioned before that perhaps the subject font in threads/message view might benefit from being more intense in color, perhaps not bolder ( as the font itself is lovely as is), but something to help the reader's eye when scanning threads, not be overpowered by the hashtag blocks. Because the subject is a "headline", the eye should go to it before it goes to the "hashtag", i think. Or  at least it's worth trying, to see if it feels better.

First, it is NOT sorted by the edit date now. It is still sorted by the posted date (as you yourself pointed out). Yet that date is now gone from the list.

Second, I feel that the edit date is not the key date of the message. There can be many edits but only one "posted" date.

Which, to me anyway, comes back to the fact that it was edited. In my mind, once an edit is made, I'd rather see it sorted by the edit date as though it were new.

Bumping this up: There is never a signature shown when top-posting. Can the signature be pulled out of the ellipses?

p.s. In fact, I'm going to "reclassify this" (at least in my own mind) as a serious problem or lack. You need to be able to search on, or at least scroll through, messages by date posted. Without that, it's like shooting in the dark.

locked log "sent confirmation email" somewhere #suggestion

Edited

Someone just applied for membership in my group. I looked at the person in the pending members page and saw "NC." Accordingly, I tried to send a confirmation email. However, I didn't see that it had gone through, and wasn't sure whether it had (I know now that a banner comes up at the top, but didn't notice or see it) so I tried sending it again. The second time, I saw the banner. But there is no log entry anywhere that I could find of this action, to know for sure whether I'd done it one time, two times, or not at all. I tried all the obvious places - the group activity log for moderators, the pending member's activity log, and my own activity log.

Is this action currently logged anywhere? If not, could it be? Thanks.

To emphasize/clarify the prior example: If I'm looking for a post from October 2015, and it was edited this morning, and either there are no other posts from October 2015 OR the ones from that month have ALSO been edited, there's practically no way I'm going to find the post by scrolling.

There clearly needs to be a date-range search at some point, but at this point, scrolling is all we've got, and with the posting date missing, it doesn't cut it for me.

Yes, it is. I'd already checked that. I don't think that's good enough, and in fact makes things a bit worse IMO, since the dates displayed may seem to jump around.

But the sort order is still the original posting date/time, so you'd find it right where you were looking. I've verified this on one of my groups.

locked Re: problem: edited date wipes out date posted #suggestion

Ok, the nagging feeling that something is wrong with leaving out the date just took shape in the form of an example. Say you're scrolling through the message list by date, trying to find a message that you know was posted on a certain date. Say that's one of the key things you know about it. You don't remember the message #, because, as has been pointed out, who would? You might know who posted it (or you might not), and you probably know something, ranging from vague to definite, about its contents. Searching on terms may (or may not) be helpful. The only thing you're sure of is the posting date (or even date range.)

Or say you want to find all messages posted on a certain date (and there is not yet a "date range" advanced search option).

In either of those cases, you're screwed. If you remember it was posted in October, 2015, and you're scrolling through in that date range, you might see other posts during that month (or you might not - there might not have been any). If you did see some, you could check the surrounding messages (if there are any), but you would not see the message you're looking for AS POSTED ON THAT DATE.

That's the problem.
