I would prefer to see some level of confirmation before the subscription becomes real. It seems like this would be less of an interruption than having to send a separate confirmation email (for both the subscriber and the moderator).

Thanks.

Our group has a section 'recently posted photos' on its homepage. Is it
possible to disable this in the settings? Although we will occasionally
upload photos it is quite rare and far from the normal use of the
group. At the moment it is showing an image embedded in one of our test
mails, which seems totally pointless and confusing anyway as it only
shows a small section of it.

So can we disable this function, or if not at the moment add the
option?

Until we can come up with something better, I have removed the Recently Posted Photos section of the group home page.

Hi All,

I have added a new Messages view, Attachments. It's in the dropdown along with Topics/Messages/Expanded Messages/Polls. It's useful for seeing which messages contain the largest attachments.

For some reason infinite scroll doesn't work with that page right now; I'm trying to figure out why. But otherwise, let me know if you have any feedback.

Thanks,

Many thanks Mark, and thanks for the quick response. Obviously in some
groups photos are very important, but for others like ours they are a
less used feature and having them on the homepage is just wasted space.

I was thinking that it would be nice, when in topics view, to have a sense of whether there were posts within a topic that have been "liked".

Something that showed the "like" icon and a number.

I mostly use topics view, so I don't get a sense of whether posts have been liked unless I actually click on a topic and look at all the posts in the flat topic view. Whereas in message view you see the likes in the list view.

Sometimes when posts get "liked" it can mean they are very informative, or funny, or it can mean there are thoughts posted that several others (those who "like") agree with but whose agreement isn't reflected in the post count because they didn't post. I think it would be nice to have a sense of this kind of activity in topics view too.

I don't see how it would provide that information. They can have a different display name in every subscription.

Also, I like the idea of requiring a display name. However, the moderator/owner can just go in and create one for every member who doesn't have one (I do this). Furthermore, the first time anyone posts, groups.io will try to harvest their name from their email address and put it into their display name automatically. So I think the requirement to force a display name at subscription time might cause members more hassle than it is worth. I don't feel strongly about this either way.
