Yes, there are actually a few mentions in various Topics. I believe it's covered under the "Notifications Overhaul" on Trello.

I  don't really care about my group having my email.  After all, it's only a few thousand additional possible people.

If I cared, I would set up an additional gmail account that forwards to my regular account.

That way I could log in to the additional account and send the messages, etc.  If someone were to start being nasty, etc, I'd simply put them on my spam listing in that account.

I think we should not be quick to ask to new features.   Too many features will start to bog down and complicate not only the software but Mark.  We should think of creative ways for us to work around minor issues.

Think back on what you have here at groups.io and what you didn't have at Yahoo.  Aren't we blessed to have Mark?

Duane,

I just realized that there's no way for a moderator/owner to send an
email to a non-member using the site.
For members, and even I think Pending members, you can see their message and reply through the +owner Messages tab of their record in the Members list.

But for non-members I think you're right.

I'm fairly certain there's an old request in beta@ (from me and maybe others) for a central list of received +owner messages which would include those from members and non-members alike. Then there would be a place for the reply button.

Joseph,

Yeah, that's the way you would do it if you were sending it for the
first time. But if say for instance, the person replies, Andy you
want to reply from the owners address.
If you go to the member's page from the Members list, there's a tab for +Owner Messages. That will have a list of the +owner messages that member sent. You can reply from there using the +owner address.

That would be useful, as well as being able to send an email from offsite
as the owner.

I agree that this would be a useful feature. I don't see any way to do it now.

I just realized that there's no way for a moderator/owner to send an email to a non-member using the site. I received a request for more information about a group, but can't reply except via email from home. The activity log shows that it was sent, but there's no way to read or reply to it online. Did I overlook something?

Thanks,

What would you like the subject to be? (i.e. can I just make it better for everyone?)

Mark, I don't doubt you that the normalize function was screwed up. However, I'm fairly sure I had unchecked it for my group even *before* receiving Jennifer's email (because I, too, suspected it as a cause). If it happens again now I will let you know.

Hi All,

I have located and fixed the bug that caused Jennifer's email to contain screwed up characters. It had to do with the Normalize HTML Emails function.

Jennifer, I still haven't been able to track down the bug you're seeing with reversed pasted snippets. I looked at message 14101, and the signature is in the correct order. I assume that means you manually re-ordered it before sending? Next time this happens, please leave the message as is (assuming you're composing a message), so that it will be in drafts, and let me know, and I'll investigate some more. And if anyone else sees this, please let me know.

Thanks,
Mark

Earlier today I was moderating a message on one of my groups and attempted to add a signature block as required by that group’s ground rules.  I went to the Message archive online and found a signature block on a message previously sent by this member (from 2011).  It was in the following order, each item on a different line:   (a) Member name; (b) Professional role, (c) Organization, (d) Location, (e) web address – url.   BUT, when I pasted it into the current message, the order was instantly and entirely reversed:  e,d,c,b,a.   Last time it happened, I had copied the signature block from an email sitting in my Outlook folder on my laptop.  This time I was “in†Groups.io online.

I / we have reported this issue before.   Did Mark ever try to do anything about it?   (Sorry if I sound ignorant;  I don’t follow all Beta postings every day – although I do try to skim the topic headings in each digest I receive ).

The message in question was in the WFDRoundtable group, message # 14101 which I approved at 12:05 today.  It was sent by the member on March 15.
