This is happening continually. Just got members back in to have them in bounce status again just minutes ago.

Right. I am now bouncing and having to unbounce myself literally every 30 seconds or less.

Our group just reported 350 gmail addresses bouncing shortly after 4PM EST (2000 UTC), and more since at a steady stream.

Whatever remedy there is for group owners we are not going to be able to individually unbounce subscribers. There are just too many for point & click remedies to be of any use to us. Drew

Actually it's so bad now that I had to unbounce myself multiple times just now. Which makes sense since gmails continue to not reach me, so the more there are, the more times I'll have to unbounce. I expect to have to do it again in a few minutes.

In fact, to get to the site just now I had to unbounce myself. It seems to be getting worse.

We know it's a gmail issue and yes, it's now happening anew in my group today. And I agree that there should be a way to unbounce people instead of making them do it themselves.

This problem (with Gmail) has indeed returned again today. I am seeing it here right now. For me, it started within the last 2 hours.
I forward some messages from my Gmail account to another Gmail account under my control, and they are not getting through. Instead I get a "bounce" message (from Google to me) claiming that the other account doesn't exist, even though I am also logged into it! This illustrates the problem is unrelated to Groups.io, it's coming from Gmail (Google). However, the methods of rectifying one's "bouncing" status with their Groups.io accounts, is a question. There ought to be a way for Owners/Moderators to unbounce members -- like we could do in Yahoo!Groups. If the "you're bouncing" message goes through, then Groups.io probably should automatically unbounce that account. Andy

Re: Dozens of gmail members suddenly bouncing - what's going on?

Mark,
To clarify, by "nothing to do with gmail" I meant that the bounce message is, or may be, as in my group's case, simply coming from a groups.io moderator attempting to get the member to unbounce by clicking on the link. The member's email (gmail) may be, as in the case of all of my gmail members, now working fine bt the bouncing status may be simply a remnant of yesterday's outage that just needs to be flipped. I was unaware that Google still hasn't fixed this, but in the case of my group at least, members have unbounced and are now receiving emails. They all received a "you are bouncing" message this morning only because I sent it to them. -- J Messages are the sole opinion of the author, especially the fishy ones.

Hi All, Like I said, it's an issue with Gmail, not us. Other email services are still reporting seeing this, so it appears that Google hasn't quite fixed things yet. Mark

Google itself was down yesterday twice. That was probably the issue. lloyd lehrer, (310)951-9097

I think it's too bad that moderators can not unbounce someone when you know it was temporary. If you send a new bounce probe and it is received then we should be able to unbounce them.

Nimer Jaber
It certainly seems to be impacting primarily Gmail users. I run a list of nearly 1,400 members, and 259 were suddenly bouncing, almost all, if not all with Gmail addresses, and all within the last day or so, and I was one of those users suddenly bouncing. I am sure this had to do with the outage yesterday, as soon as Groups.io was unable to deliver messages, it put those email addresses in a bouncing state. So I would attribute this to the Gmail outage, but if I'm wrong please correct me. Thanks.

Hi, Based on a message from a moderator of a forum I manage: the bounce probe should include a link to unbounce yourself (to verify that you got the message). According to Groups.IO owner’s manual, owners can’t do that – they can only send direct messages and bounce probes to affect3ed members, among other actions. Cheers, Joseph

Still bouncing today. I received a message less than 30 minutes ago that I was bouncing, albeit a message from this group, so gmail does not seem to have corrected the situation. Could this be bigger? I also had to re-authorize a comcast e-mail account from my cell phone yesterday for no apparent reason.

Re: SORBS Spam has groups.io blacklisted again
#misc
Hi All, Following up on this, as the SORBS site is finally back up and I was able to figure out what happened. The listing was the result of 3 groups moving from Yahoo to us. Two of the groups sent invites to email addresses that turned out to be SORBs honeypot addresses. The third group did a direct add of an SORBs honeypot address. In all cases, the email addresses had been members of their Yahoo groups. I don't know if the addresses were bouncing at Yahoo or not. I've requested that SORBs delist us. I've also ensured that we will not send email to these addresses (and others like them) again. Thanks, Mark

J,
Can someone please tell me the title of the bounce probe message, so ISubject: Your Groups.io Account Is Bouncing https://groups.io/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/10614 That example was collected over a year and a half ago, so there may have been changes since. I didn't collect a fresh example because, for whatever reason, I didn't receive a bounce probe - I learned my account was in Bouncing status when I went to the web site. Depending on how promptly the first Bounce Probe is sent, it may also bounce, which is what I believe happened to mine (it did not go into Spam, Trash, or other Gmail folders). I would not be surprised if so many bounce probes are going out thatSeems possible. Fortunately (?) this incident affected Gmail users, and Gmail tends to be better about discerning spam versus ham than most. Shal

p.s. The members are responding offlist that they can't find the bounce probes in any folder whatsoever, even though I resent them all a few minutes ago. But one member went to the site and saw the "unbounce" banner and fixed it. So I'll at least let the others know about that.
