Top or bottom posting is individual preference.

What does it have to do with Beta?

Getting members to snip can be a problem.
Again that seems off topic to Beta.

I always top  quote as for me it's easier  to read and I can just  hurry up to the next message. I think It's the users doing the bottom posting and not groups.io's fault, I hope?

Bottom quoting has only been around since Microsoft started the non Standard Outlook Express.

In the days of yore when we paid my the minute for dial up internet with slow modems, everyone top quoted and deleted EVERYTHING that was not essential to the reply.
Also, eMail clients would add a chevron each time a line was quoted so one could easily follow the attribution to the poster in multiple replies.

I agree with the gentleman and scholar part, but not sure how to determine how well he can judge good or bad whiskey.  But if one of us makes their way out to California (or wherever he actually calls home), perhaps we could ascertain his "judgeworthiness" at a local pub. :)

The default is now not checked.

moderated Default hashtag for groups with mandatory hashtag requirement #suggestion

Drew

For those groups that have a mandatory hashtag requirement owners should have the option of setting a default hashtag that would be automatically applied when users do not select one themselves when posting. This would be friendlier and more convenient than forcing users to choose one and rejecting their emails.

it's important because without it, you get rows of >>>>>> scattered across the properly quoted text

It's important for have cleaned archive. When I look at the archive of my old Y!G it's the Chaos. All the solutions to order this and make the archive readable are important.

This is fixed now.

I have always preferred have the most current reply at the top of the message.  I thought I saw where some members are doing that while others aren't.  I looked at couldn't find anything that would allow the reply to the group to be at the top and also to include the original message.

I had requested something similar to Bruce's request way back in the beginning and I don't think it ever made it.  If the buying and selling group and also my one group gets transferred, we really need to be able to have two lines that will appear below the photo where information can be put on both of those lines.  It is a requirement of those groups.  The same with the albums, but Bruce has already requested that and you Shal have embellished it.  Hopefully it will get put on the list.

Thank you,

Quote fix and break line fix is important for Y!G archive after the transfer.

moderated #wiki #suggestion New label and placement for links tools in wiki #suggestion

Frances

There are two links tools in the wiki. One that allows you to edit an existing link or add a link by putting in a URL. Label: Insert/edit link with an icon just as on a regular post - the chain links.

The other is a useful tool to link to other pages in the wiki. For example, I put in "next" pages for a subset of my wiki pages. It is at the far end of the default set of tools and the icon is a slanted book.

I can't see a better icon, but perhaps it would be useful to move the add/edit link to close to the other icon - after text justification and near Add image. That would put the two linking tools close to each other.

My group's Guidelines and Wiki pages are set to Private.
I've noticed that the link (https://groups.io/g/GROUPNAME/guidelines) to my group's Guidelines brings us to the https://groups.io/ homepage if a member is not logged in, hence the member needs to log in and then enter that Guidelines link, or click on the group's Guidelines tab before going to the Guidelines page.
However, the link to one of my group's Wiki page brings us to the "Log In" page https://groups.io/login?r=%2Fg%2FGROUPNAME%2Fwiki%2FWIKIPAGETITLE which brings us to the correct Wiki page once the member has logged in.

This is not critical, as there are workarounds, but nice to have. I would like to request that the link for the Guidelines brings a member to the "Log In" page, so that it follows through once the member has logged in.

Thanks.
Lily
