Hello, I just unbounced googleemail addresses. It looks like Gmail has fixed their problem. I will continue to treat the 'account not existing' error as a temporary error at least for the rest of today. Thanks, Mark

Following up on this...As a further follow - up can I flag up that after a look at "our" list of Bouncing members it has become clear that alice.it and tin.it have both blacklisted groups.io as a sender. Although in our case the number of persons affected is small, across all Groups.io Account holders the number is likely to be significant. This blacklisting does not appear to have been introduced recently; a cursory investigation would suggest sometime around March / April this year. I will try some bounce probes later to see if anything happens. Chris

After a few hours the list was down to somewhere around 53. I sent them again for those members. Now that you're going through and sending them for Gmail users, are you going to do the same for the Charter, Comcast, Spectrum, and Roadrunner emails also? I unbounced myself (roadrunner email) but there are probably others in my scattered groups who are affected by another issue. Shal mentioned a listing by SORBS (a blacklist service) with GIO on it, and some email providers use that list to block domains that are spam havens. Hi All, I've just changed the code to treat these errors from Gmail as temporary. When we get one, we will continue to retry sending the email. Previously, we would set someone as bouncing immediately upon getting one of these errors. Hopefully this should help. Mark

Hi, Although Google says Gmail issues should be resolved for some, I think it is too early to send another bounce probe. I have sent an emergency admin notice to a group I manage, telling members to pause posting until Gmail issue is significantly resolved, which should be tonight (Pacific) at the earliest based on Google Workspace status dashboard posts. Cheers, Joseph

Can Mark send out a notice to everyone so we know when we can request our members to unbounce themselves? Right now, it seems premature to do so if they have to go back to unbouncing again shortly after.

Possible suggestion for Mark meanwhie: set the bouncing bar much higher temporarily.

We could do it if we could do it in bulk (i.e., checkbox all the bouncing members and select the action). However, the bouncing keeps recurring, so unbouncing no longer has any lasting effect. Right. I am now bouncing and having to unbounce myself literally every 30 seconds or less.

Our group just reported 350 gmail addresses bouncing shortly after 4PM EST (2000 UTC), and more since at a steady stream.

Whatever remedy there is for group owners we are not going to be able to individually unbounce subscribers. There are just too many for point & click remedies to be of any use to us. Drew

Actually it's so bad now that I had to unbounce myself multiple times just now. Which makes sense since gmails continue to not reach me, so the more there are, the more times I'll have to unbounce. I expect to have to do it again in a few minutes.

In fact, to get to the site just now I had to unbounce myself. It seems to be getting worse.

We know it's a gmail issue and yes, it's now happening anew in my group today. And I agree that there should be a way to unbounce people instead of making them do it themselves.

This problem (with Gmail) has indeed returned again today. I am seeing it here right now. For me, it started within the last 2 hours.
I forward some messages from my Gmail account to another Gmail account under my control, and they are not getting through. Instead I get a "bounce" message (from Google to me) claiming that the other account doesn't exist, even though I am also logged into it! This illustrates the problem is unrelated to Groups.io, it's coming from Gmail (Google). However, the methods of rectifying one's "bouncing" status with their Groups.io accounts, is a question. There ought to be a way for Owners/Moderators to unbounce members -- like we could do in Yahoo!Groups. If the "you're bouncing" message goes through, then Groups.io probably should automatically unbounce that account. Andy
