Mark,

This is great. It will enable us to decouple the "public" part of the group guidelines from the "current member" part. So far, we've had to put them all together into one.

moderated New Monthly Reminder member notice

Hi All,

There's a new Monthly Reminder member notice. All active monthly reminder notices (there can be more than one) will be emailed to the group on the 1st of the month. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Mark

Our wiki is public at https://groups.io/g/FuchsFriends/wiki/home
and has some decent information also.

Shal,

Thanks (sincerely).   These sorts of requests still make me scratch my head, since if you are e-mail only I still see no way to actually "view" likes and it seems diametrically opposed to an e-mail list.  (The previous is strictly my own impression - it is not an objection to the feature - I shall never make another one of those again as it is verboten.)

Brian,

How does one "like by e-mail"?

Mark,

If you have any material that you've developed for your users that you wouldn't mind being incorporated/used as a reference by the writer, please send it to me.

What Duane said. Also GMF's Messages (also public) have a lot of answers to specific questions. That may serve as a hint as to what most needs to be documented (the recurring questions). Presumably he/she will be setting up test groups to probe functionality and create screen shots, so he/she is also welcome to ask questions in GMF.

If you reply to a message with just a +1 or the word like, that message will not be sent to the group and instead you will like the message you're replying to.

Cheers,

I could take this to Group_Help, and will if someone tells me it's too complicated to explain in a couple of lines:  How does one "like by e-mail"?

The thought had never occurred to me, and prior to here I had never even seen this mentioned.  Not that I'll be doing it, but I am curious as to how one likes a specific message in a specific topic by e-mail.   I see no link that would allow it (and I don't include View/Reply Online - which throws the user straight into the web interface).

Rather than send you a ton of stuff that may or may not be useful, I'd suggest that you (or they) have a look at the (public) wiki on GMF, https://groups.io/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/home  I know there are a few things that aren't 100% up to date, but it's difficult to keep up with you sometimes!

Does this also apply to email Likes?  I believe that was the problem before, in that you could still Like via email, but not online.

Yes, it also applies to email likes.

Thanks,

moderated Groups.io manual

Hi All,

I am going to hire a technical writer to put together a manual explaining all the various functions of the site. If you have any material that you've developed for your users that you wouldn't mind being incorporated/used as a reference by the writer, please send it to me. I'd appreciate it. What I'm hoping will result is something that can be of help to group owners as well as group members.

Thanks!

moderated Saving graphics from Messge area

Leeni

Why the messages are no use as it stands right now to graphic type groups?

 (Maybe this is a bug)

When a graphic or Paint Shop Pro tube is sent in a message and then it is saved by email, the name of the tube or graphic is associated with the tube.

Example attachment #1 Fresh Bread PNG Clip art 26751

When the same tube is saved from the message area it is given a number like 0, 0(1), etc. So when members go to save these graphics from the message area, they do not have the name of the image.

Example #2 calls the image 0

They can't even saved correctly. Now if you were to save the images from the message area for all of the messages you would get multiple images named 0, some with 0 (1), some with 0 (2) if they were all in the same message. Now you go to another message and save the 1 graphic there you would get 0 all over again.

Do you mean "history revision," or "revision history"? The revision history of the feature certainly has had some back and forth, but that's not uncommon. After more experience, features are easier to evaluate.

Duane,

Many thanks for this information.  I will certainly be putting it to use.

I still believe that a more obvious and "user friendly" (whether for members or mods) method would be useful, so I'm still asking for it (whether I get it or not).

Neither did I, and if there's a God in heaven I hope you can't.   The potential for screwing that up is just so huge.
