Changes to the site this week:

• INTERNAL: Changed how we were limiting email sent to some domains, to use the MX server domain as a key for limiting instead of the receipient's domain. This will affect all messages to GoDaddy hosted domains, orange.fr/wanadoo.fr, earthlink/mindspring/netcom and a couple others. This will hopefully allow us to keep under per-connection limits imposed by these email service providers and avoid getting temporarily blocked for trying to send too much email at one time.
• INTERNAL: Technical debt cleanup of web page templates. An ongoing process.
• CHANGE: Updated the Help Center manuals with updates from Nina.
• API: /downloadarchives was not returning the messages in ascending date order.
• CHANGE: Allow 'list-style-type' styling in user generated content.
• CHANGE: Some formatting tweaks to the Member page, including displaying the member's timezone.
• CHANGE: Changed 'Unsubscribe' button in the Subscription page to 'Leave Group' to be more clear.
• SYSADMIN: Switched primary database machines because of continuing (minor) corruption issues.
• CHANGE: When viewing a member's information on mobile, changed the nav buttons at the top to a dropdown instead. Also fixed several navigation bugs when viewing past members.

No, you can turn it off and on as needed.

If I DO select "normalize" HTML, will I as moderator be able to add back in emphasis or color when I want to?   Since I am often passing along items of interest to my readers, it is often helpful to be able to draw attention to a particular sentence in a posting with highlighted or colored text.

You can't use fonts, sizes, and colors while it's on, but you can use bold and italic for emphasis, along with inline images.

We can continue the discussion on GMF, if you want, since this really isn't the proper group for that.

Also I have seen the option for color inexplicably appear and disappear in the advanced toolbar.   I'd like to have it ALL THE TIME!

The TZ is included, though not in UTC, if you use the Export Group Data to get the json file for the Members List.

Have you tried the Settings page, in the Message Formatting panel, to set "Normalize HTML Emails"?

Hello all -

1.  Format painter button:    Having this option would sure be nice.   I don't like releasing messages sent in with a hodgepodge of colors and fonts and line spacings  -- and it is nearly impossible without a format painter to get things to look professional.   Is there a way to do this already?  If not, is it a difficult thing to add?

2.  In this time of COVID-19, I have realized that a list-serv can be a good way to START propagating information.  But if members CANNOT forward messages, the propagation stops there.   I realize that enabling wholesale forwarding messages defeats the idea of a restricted group -- which all of mine are.  But somehow as moderator,  I would like to be able to turn on / turn off a forwarding option for individual messages when dissemination of a piece of news or an opportunity would be good.   Is this possible?

Is it really? I have looked at the two Members Lists to which I have access and cannot see it. My initial feeling was that this might be another manifestation of a 4:3 display, (see this thread) but shrinking the display size still leaves the "Applied" column firmly glued to the right hand side of the display.

And just in case anyone asks... there is no horizontal scroll bar showing.

On the Member List, the Joined date/time was moved to the upper right, directly across from their email address.  The TZ is to the right of that.  I believe only owner/mods can see that, but I don't have any groups set to allow members to see the list to verify.  A member can easily see which TZ they've selected by looking at their Account Preferences.

I don't know if this is related but yesterday (Wednesday) I was taken to the terms of service page after replying to a post on the website.

Hi All,

I'm once again seeing the main database report corruption issues and I think at this point it's prudent to switch over to one of our backup databases. I have no reason to believe any data's been lost, this is just an index issue. The site will be down starting at 8pm Pacific Time (3am UTC time). I'd say plan for an hour outage, although I don't think it'll take nearly that long. Email sent to groups during this time will be queued up and delivered once the site is back up.
