Actually you can by changing the permissions/properties of that table, i.e. who can add rows, edit rows, etc.

In the advanced preferences, the text for this tick box is:

"In addition to the topics and hashtags you have selected to follow, the first message of every new thread is also emailed to you."

That seems to be sending mixed messages - topics or threads - should not the word thread be changed to topic?

Malcolm.

Hi Mark,

I want to create some database tables and allow members to add to them until they reach a certain size. Having a table property that sets the maximum number of rows allowed would be really helpful. My only other options would seem to be asking members not to exceed a certain limit.  As permissions apply to the database feature overall, I can't restrict access to just one table if it reaches the maximum size I want.

Andy

moderated Site updates #changelog

Changes to the site this week:

  • UPDATE: Updated members manual with changes from Nina.
  • CHANGE: Made our email parsing code a little more liberal so that it wouldn't reject mime parts with content-type lines containing duplicate name parameters.
  • BUGFIX: For really tall browser windows, infinite scroll would sometimes not trigger.
  • BUGFIX: Database search results were missing multiple choice row answers.
  • CHANGE: Expire any muted hashtags when viewing the hashtags page.
  • BUGFIX: In the Week and Day views of the calendar, when clicking a slot after noon to create an event, we would not parse the time correctly.
  • API: Added default_hashtag_view field to the user object, which can be set using the /updateuser endpoint.
  • CHANGE: Store and load FuelUX package locally instead of relying on the //fuelcdn service.
  • CHANGE: In the edit pending message page, include hashtag descriptions in the Add Tags selector.
  • CHANGE: Display number of topics in Hashtags list view.
  • CHANGE: We are now only including the first two attachments for every message in a digest, to prevent oversized digests.
  • CHANGE: Images in digests are now resized using a JPEG quality of 75.
  • CHANGE: Change the order of evaluation so that a member set to MT is evaluated before a group's moderate first message setting.
  • CHANGE: Move the Group Email Addresses block on the Group home page.
  • CHANGE: Update the /mutehashtag URLs in message footers.

Take care everyone.

I concur with Hudson. I think a copy of the failure notice should also go to the group owner address.

As a related issue, I wonder if a notice shouldn't also be sent to the member in the event there's an upload resample limit in place and the image has been reduced along with a reminder to the poster that the group owner can change that setting if necessary.

I recently had a file upload refused for wrong file type, got the error message that file was wrong and not uploaded.
Fine, I went with "plan B", But the notification that a file had been uploaded was sent to the members.
Should things be changed so the the notification goes out AFTER a successful upload?

I thought I'd add my voice to this to try and get it pushed up the priority list.

Mark,

All good on both mobile and desktop.

I was accessing only from mobile when I filed the bug.  From now on I will check from both devices.

Thank you,

Replying to my own message. I just fixed an issue when viewing a long message on mobile that could have resulted in a duplicate message being displayed. Please let me know if you are still seeing the problem.

Thanks, Mark

In order for me to track this down, I'll need some more information. Were you viewing this on a desktop or mobile? Is it all topics, or a specific topic? Any information you can provide to help me track it down would be great.

Thanks,

I am set for 50 items per page and this is what I get. I can see the first 50 posts but the next page goes to message 22xxx.

Should be fixed now.

moderated Anomaly noticed approving an edit #suggestion

I was trying to approve an edit, but kept getting sent back to the pending page.  (It also showed that I had claimed it, but I'm pretty sure I only clicked Approve after reading it.)  After digging a bit, I found that the original message had been deleted by the member (sent edit needing approval, then deleted original).  I think there needs to be a more gentle way to handle this.  Since the original is gone, the message number doesn't exist, so it seems like posting it as a new message to the topic would be most appropriate in that case.  (I ended up rejecting the edit and told him to write a new message to the topic.)

These should be fixed now. In addition, I've changed it so that you can edit an existing mute/follow.

Hi Mark,

I found a couple more issues:

  • If a hashtag has the Special attribute set it doesn't make sense to allow Mute or Follow as special messages cannot be suppressed and so the hashtags are effectively always followed. Currently I can set a mute duration for a hashtag with the Special attribute even though this gets ignored when a message is sent.
  • When I try and follow a hashtag (for any duration), the status remains unchanged on the hashtags list and it still shows the Follow link.

Andy
