Re: Web notifications now enabled

I already disabled DoNotDisturb (bummer), to no avail. I haven’t been able to find anything in FF to explicitly enable notifications - just ways to turn them off. I’ll search again.

And 1 more, with some additional info:

Firefox on Mac - latest version. this is a bit tricky, at least it was for me. I had to allow notifications from Firefox in the control panel / notification settings, and I also had to disable my „do not disturb“ setting which is currently active, to make the notifications appear. After that, notifications on the Mac now also work in Firefox for me. Kind regards Thomas

Hi,

Addition to my previous message: Notifications work for me in Firefox as well, FF 70.0.1 in windows 10 1803 (yes, both a bit old, I agree). I upgraded FF to 77.0.1 and it’s also working in this version. Thomas

hi Mark,
just a confirmation - for me it works in Chrome (Windows 10 and Mac OS X Catalina), and in Edge on Windows 10. That's the "old" Edge I think, the version that comes with Windows 10 1909 as standard . Kind regards Thomas

No, no problem, I was actually glad you answered to see that we’re using the same version of FF. Why mine diesnt work is a mystery.

Uh-oh. I didn't tell you my OS. It's the obsolete ol' El Capitan, the same one that got me into trouble with Safari. Could that be affecting this? I've been putting off updating as long as I could. Maybe will get a new PC soon anyway.

Also, since I can't enable the current thing, I have no idea what the possibilities are for other places they could pop up. or what you have in mind. So a description of what you have in mind now, and the possible options you're thinking about for where they could appear, would also help. Otherwise I'm totally in the dark and can't possibly venture an opinion.....

To answer that I’d want to see a complete list of current and planned notifications. But even before that I’d like to know why I’m still getting “not supported on this browser.” What the heck is this, a beta test group or something? 😁

Hi J, I think the biggest thing left to figure out about notifications is where they should appear. Existing group notifications are just emails. They get sent to members, they appear in the Messages/Topics pages. Should they be pulled out into their own section? Mark

I still see only the following under "Notifications" in Firefox on a Mac laptop. I've checked both my system preferences for notifications and my firefox and nothing is disabled:
----- In addition to email, you can receive notifications about events through push notifications on your mobile device and desktop browser. You currently have no devices enabled to receive notifications. Note: Notifications are activated per device and desktop browser. To receive notifications on multiple devices, sign in on each device, enable notifications, and make sure you're online. Desktop notifications are not supported in this browser. --J Messages are the sole opinion of the author, especially the fishy ones.
