However, I have also changed it so that when you click on the
unsubscribe link, you are asked to verify that you wish to unsubscribe
(in other words one click becomes two clicks). I did this because I
found evidence in the logs that at least a couple people are behind a
firewall or some other system that automatically clicks on every link in

That sounds like an open door to an exploit site. But I suppose if whatever is fetching the pages is careful with the content (isn't simply passing it to an HTML parser) there's less chance of a nasty surprise. Still, the whole concept that my reader would go out and access content from unknown sites without my express say-so would make me very nervous.

This was my fear when I did the one click unsubscribe. I had done some
research beforehand about this and all I read said that this wouldn't be
a problem.
As I read Google's guidelines it seems that a confirmation click is acceptable.

I do believe that in at least some cases, accessibility software is causing all the links in an email to be clicked, which would cause this behavior (seeing a message saying you've been unsubscribed, and then they're magically subscribed again). The verification click should put a stop to this.

Changes to the site today:

  • Fixed calender reminder intervals not being set correctly.
  • Changed one click unsubscribe to two click unsubscribe because a few people use email programs that click every link automatically.
  • Made member search case insensitive.
  • Replies to digest messages now bounce back with a helpful error message.
  • Instagram integration fix for accounts with no photos yet and better error messages.
  • We now attach the original message when we send out pending message notification emails.
  • We now display an error message when a pending message has already been approved/rejected.
  • Fixed Back/Update button behavior when viewing or modifying an event in the calendar.

Hi Brenda,

The welcome message is generated when you first create the group. You can then edit it at any time, by going into Settings and clicking on Member Notices. 

If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't generate the welcome message when you create the group. I'd just have a default welcome message if the owner hasn't set one themselves. And that default would have the current group name. I'll put it on the todo list to change this, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to it.

An error message is now displayed. Error messages, or a lack thereof, are a bit of a weak spot at the moment. I've been thinking about ways to design the error system and think I've figured things out, but I need to integrate it completely into the system.

Yes, there will be a photos area. At the moment I've been focused on two main things:

 

- Bug fixes

- Improving the core 'list functionality' 

 

Once things calm down I'll be able to shift back to adding new features, including photos.

There just isn’t a place to house them on the site, other than see them as attachments.

What the Instagram integration is, is a way to follow an Instagram account. Any pics posted to the followed Instagram account are automatically sent to the group. I'm not all that familiar with Instagram, but I'm guessing you could set up an account there and share it with people. Or you could follow multiple Instagram accounts.
