I'd agree as well.

Mark,
I’m definitely liking that; mind you, anything that isn’t that appalling Yahell Neo letterbox slot has to be an improvement!

All,

I've made a couple changes to the Group Home page. I moved the text (group title and address) out of the image, below it.

More importantly, I changed how the cover image was being scaled. I think this is better and will be easier for people to deal with. It doesn't rely on a specific image size; it dynamically resizes and does not crop.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Mark

I just changed it to OLDGROUP and NEWGROUP.  Suggestions for something better appreciated.

Unfortunately, the member list that I can download does not include a list of who's a moderator/owner.

Brenda,

Can you explain to me, how Shal was able to reply to my message in a
different group when my message was not in the Beta group?
That part's sort-of easy. I replied by email, not on the web (in particular, not from the beta group).

Technically, I could easily have cross-posted my reply to beta by including its address, along with owlperch's, in the To, CC, or BCC of the outgoing reply. The hard part about that, to me, is that I'm pretty sure that only owlperch's address was in my outgoing reply.

So I'm still mystified about how my reply ended up in Beta. Mark says his system received the message twice, once addressed to beta and once to owlperch. That would be consistent with me cross-posting the reply. I just don't know how I did that, if I did that, or what other thing could have caused it.

It's definitely working. I think I see the instance where you tried to use it. For some reason it didn't think the subscriber was on modified status. I've added more logging and will track it.

Also, is it possible to separate the two moderator privileges "Modify Group Settings" & "Delete Group?"

Added to the todo list.

Thanks,

Step 2 #2 I'd suggest that everyone use the same format so it would be easier for you to process things. Have two lines at the top reading:
yg=yahoogroupname
io=groupsiogroupname
or whatever would make it easiest. You could make it at least semi-automatic after just a quick check for consistency.

Step 3 I think the email should say something like "You have been subscribed to the new group using your Yahoo account settings." instead of "Your subscription has been transfered to the new group." Otherwise, folks might think their account on Yahoo is no longer active. There may be some owners that would want to run parallel for awhile, as long as they understand there will really be two groups, one on each service.

Could the final email to GROUPNAME+owner@groups.io possibly contain a list of those that were moderators or co-owners of the Yahoo group? Might make it easier for them to add privileges if those folks aren't already on Groups.

The group owners on Yahoo would need to tell folks what's going to happen and when, so there won't be too many surprises. I'd hope that they'd already have their files, photos, whatever copied over and mostly be ready to run.

Hi Mark,
https://groups.io/static/transfer
This is beautifully done - perfect!

I think it would be important for the group owner to know the timing of the transfer. A Special Notice would have to go out to the members to prepare them to expect the Groups.io email. Otherwise they might assume it's spam or phishing.

Thanks!

Hi Mark,
https://groups.io/static/newsubpage
So much simpler ~ *way* better!

For clarity, I'd suggest changing
Advanced Options to
Advanced Preferences (Optional)

Someone suggested that folks choosing No Mail should have to provide a verified email address so they can be reachable by an owner (Special Notices). In that case No Email except Special Notices would be great wording. Eliminates concerns about privacy at work.

Thanks!
Linda

Mark,

Last night I used the new button for approve post and unmoderate member in MMSanctuary. However, when I went to the member's details, they were still on moderation and I had to manually unmoderate the member.

Is this a bug or was it just not working yet?

I would feel more comfortable if only the owner(s) could delete the group, but I was trying to give someone the ability to modify group settings.

Thanks

Can you explain to me, how Shal was able to reply to my message in a different group when my message was not in the Beta group? My original post was not in Beta, so how was he able to reply to it from Beta....

Still confused....

I think so. I think that would alleviate a lot of confusion. I also think of archives as older messages not current threads being posted in.

So I vote Yes.

Not ever. I like lots of info. :)

Just tell me how to prevent it from happening again? Was it something I did wrong? If so, please help me prevent it from happening again.

And why did it jump me out of my group into Beta when I replied? After I sent the reply, I was no longer in my tab, I was in Beta's tab.

Thanks,
Brenda

Subject Lines:

I thought it was stated that we could edit Subject lines, but I haven't been able to. My husband JohnF  thinks it is only editable by the creator of the original first post of the thread? Is that true? If so, how would I say, edit or add a hashtag to that thread? Should I copy the post into another reply box and change the subject/hashtag there?

When viewing a thread, at the top right is a 'Edit Thread' button that will let you edit the subject line/change options.

And default Message View:

I might be wrong, but didn't you say that if we went into a default message view, that it would be remembered and stay in that order during our session? Mine isn't. Or is that something you haven't implemented yet?

Not yet implemented.
