LSoft has "noack" - it's not your message but an acknowledgement that your message made it, as well as the other setting that lets you not see your own posts, and it was a subscriber option, not a list option. Can't remember with Lyris either - but again I never implemented it when I was using a Lyris server, so the only list I don't see my own messages on is the old PSU list running on LSoft (I think it was the default in 1989 when I joined that list!). Which is a very long way of saying - I don't see any downside. dg

Re: Getting copies of the messages you send
Yes please, Mark. It's what I'm used to with Yahell. Regards, Robert. Sent from my BlackBerry 10 smartphone on the O2 network.
All, It sounds like many people want to have the messages they send to groups show up in their mailbox. Should I enable that for all groups and all users? Can you see any downside with doing so? Thanks, Mark

There definitely should be an error message there. It's not a quick fix, so I'll add it to the todo list. Thanks, Mark

I think it makes sense to just remove that button and have the message quoted in the reply box.
So, when quoting a message for reply, you want long lines wrapped? Around what # of characters per line, 78? FWIW, the emails currently generated with long quoted lines not wrapped still look fine (like your paragraph here). Thanks, Mark

Re: Not getting copies of messages I sent to my group
David,
I have actually seen this work with some of my posts that are on listsIf you literally mean Forward (as in the action taken in an email client) rather than Approve (in the sense Yahoo Groups and Groups.io uses it) then yes - the forwarded message would have a unique Message-ID. One of the suggested solutions to the unseen moderator edit problem is to have the list service replace the Message-ID if any moderator edits the message while pending (and not if the only change to the outbound message body is the automatically appended list footers). I don't know if I'd want Groups.io to do that, but I think there is some merit to the argument that an edited message outbound isn't the same message as that which came in. -- Shal

Re: Another observation - this time about trailing trash
Dano,
I'd just like a way to limit the amount of unchanged text. Maybe even aI'd want an algorithm that removes 2nd level quotes and beyond. Easy to say, probably a lot harder to do that it seems. The simple cases probably work ok, but in a system that has lots of users one probably runs headlong into a thicket of exceptions. One advantage a system like Groups.io has is that it may be able to use more than the content of the message at hand: it potentially could follow the thread backward through the archive seeking correlated word sequences to remove. That is, the first-level quoted material would be present only in the direct predecessor to this message. Second and higher level quoted material would be present in multiple messages in the archive. -- Shal

Re: Files - search
I think I just found one. When there are more than 20 files, main or folder, I can't find a way to see the rest. I can invert the list and see the last 20, but it would be a real problem with more than 40.

I agree with Shal on both of these points because that's the most obvious to people who don't see as well, and it's the way I personally prefer.

Re: Post preference, show message history, emoji
Mark,
For Markdown and Plain reply boxes, there's a new Show Message HistoryI really hate that terminology. It seems to cause a lot of user confusion versus the message thread context surrounding the message and its reply edit box. How about "Insert Quoted Message" - to me that better describes what it does. that works similarly to how Y! Groups' button works, to insert theCan I have mine shown (inserted) by default? I almost always want to inline quote for context. And... I love breaking the rules by not wrapping my plain text message bodies (because that generally works better with other people's email services and with on-line message archives that dynamically word-wrap at the window width); but I don't like that at all for quoted text. So could I have a wrap button that re-wraps paragraphs (blank line separated) and if the paragraph is reply quoted ("> ") inserts the quote marking on each of the wrapped lines. Note, a line with only the quote marking should also be considered a paragraph separator. -- Shal

Customizing invitation message
I'm trying to customize an invitation message to send to prospective new members. Does that particular text box on the 'Invitation To Be Sent' allow hard returns? I'd like to break my note into a couple paragraphs, but it all comes out as one big paragraph. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Calendar is live
I think I found another glitch on the calendar. I set up an event for July, set reminders for 4 weeks and 8 weeks, and added it. When I clicked on the event, it had changed them to minutes. I also tried setting it to hours and days, but it still shows minutes when I go back in.

I have actually seen this work with some of my posts that are on lists that are moderated and the owner/moderator forwards the message to the list members. I do receive such messages in my email even though I sent the message.

I think the browser Back button probably is the best choice. That also allows me to open a thread in a new tab, so I haven't really left my previous view.
