Re: Getting copies of the messages you send
Mark,
It converted it to a link. ...Hmm... If the linkifier took them maybe that's actually appropriate: they served their express purpose in delimiting the span of text to linkify and I shouldn't expect to see them in the rendered HTML. Sorry for the needless confusion. -- Shal

It is talking about being the DEFAULT search engine. Right now, on my Apple products, I tend to use Safari browser. I can choose from four search engines - Google, Yahoo, Bing and DuckDuckGo. This is the same on my iPhone and on my Mac Air. I can also use other browsers. I have Firefox installed and did have Bing. I doubt if they would change that! A bit off-topic. Sorry! I just got mail yesterday that a friend, who taught me a lot about programming and is an incredible programmer, was layed off/fired from Yahoo. His words "he wasn't the type of <some level> programmer they needed". He is local. They could have put him on the groups. I think whoever said that Yahoo is being prepared for extinction is correct - although I also read that it is trying to be the exclusive search engine for Apple products. One more reason for me to avoid anything Apple. dg

If missing the quoted text while reading on the website inOr would if the threads had a proper threaded view option, rather than only a chronological view. https://groups.io/org/groupsio/beta/thread/9671 I don't know if there is a similar link in the mails that are sent out,Not directly to the message in thread, but to the message. Re: Getting copies of the messages you send
Mark,
Where'd the lt...gt delimiters around the Message ID go in message #1437?You know, you're right.Message-Id: Groupsio.0.54C95CFE.1010006@roadrunner.comI guess it is probably still going to be unique, ... They are still there in the `text/plain; markup=markdown` part of the message body, but not in the `text/html`. So Markdown mistook those angle brackets for part of an HTML tag, and failed to escape them? I'm almost surprised the whole email address didn't disappear (as if it were an unsupported tag), as I've seen happen in Yahoo Groups. Looks like something needs some character escapes, at least for Markdown replies. But I wouldn't want to see them converted to HTML character entities in the Markdown text - that way lies madness for all the email clients and services that don't support the markdown parameter. Maybe I should just avert my eyes when this stuff happens... -- Shal

Happy to oblige, by being the example. :) I have my default all set to plain text now, so hopefully it won't "eat" anymore of my quotes because I have to change it or something. :) And I frequently reply to an entire message with comments in between, but only if I really feel I need the whole message. So I understand it's legal. ;) Brenda

Re: Links?
Hi

I get that! I wonder whether editing the text on the home page for the group might be a way of highlighting features, pointing the way to the material we have available on our own group. For example, on my own page, no wiki (but there is on the travel one where I moderate), but we do have some files that might need highlighting. Frances

Re: Links?
Yeah, I thought about that. But then I think about having to remind every member of my groups to go to wiki because they're used to the term links. Wiki just doesn't come to mind when you're wandering through menus looking for links. Trish

One thing I noticed Brenda doing was replying to messages that were old enough to be several pages back on the message list, then being taken to the most recent message on the message list after posting the reply (that is, the reply itself). There's no blue bar in that case, and changing the page to find the original message doesn't show the blue bar, either. JohnF
