My preference is to block this feature for all email providers so that members of any GroupIO group get the mail they sent back as evidence there posts were sent to members by the list server.

This has nothing to do with Groups.IO. It is yet another delightful feature of Gmail, don't go to Hades without it. Temple University has a corporate Gmail account for its students staff and faculty. Gmail in the infinite wisdom of Herr Google has determined that though shalt not find emails that thou sendeth in thine Inbox for if thou sentest the email thou shouldest know what it looketh like. Such great wisdom, wasted on email when such brilliance could be solving the world's problems. Sad.

Re: Not getting copies of messages I sent to my group
If you want a copy you have to send it from the groups webpage (or maybe from a third party app like the one I'm using). Gmail won't add duplicate messages when emailed from Gmail. So even though it appears to come from the group, Gmail knows it came from you and that message is already in your archives. So it cannot duplicate it. It's a pain in the butt, but I understand the logic behind it. Sara Sent from Blue Mail

Judy, Are you talking about the files that go out to pending members or are you talking about approving pending members? These are Member Notices, which are files that get sent out to: Welcome Pending Goodbye Banned All can be modified to suit your group's info/needs. Trish

My note did not look like this when I sent it. Each one of the steps I took were on separate lines. Is this because I am replying from Outlook and it is set to HTML?

"They will say forget it! They will just unsubscribe like a large number of members did when Neo came about." - it is the responsibility of admins to educate their users (or alternatively, to decide no to).
Regardless, a large number of people who left Yahoo groups aren't going to come back, even if Groups.io was a perfect replica.

Maybe I should rephrase my previous statement. I don't think a lot of the extra stuff, should be on the homepage. I think a description of the group, what is allowed and isn't type stuff and of course the various group email addresses.

I'd rather not have Top Posters (nor Recent Photos when implemented) shown on the page visible to the public like it is now. If it was a public group, I wouldn't mind so much. I think the ultimate solution would be for which items are displayed to be controlled by the group owner. Maybe a limited subset could be configurable. I would think that Group Description, Group Settings, and Group Email Addresses should always be shown. Message History was also a concern for a lot of Yahoo group owners to indicate activity. Top Hashtags could go either way. For me, the group home page is a very temporary stop, if I see it at all. I've got bookmarks to the archives/messages set up for most of them. I want it to have enough information to entice folks to join, but not so much that it looks cluttered. Duane

I could not find any other instances of this happening in the logs. It has been fixed. I am sorry.

Duane, everything you said is good and on my wishlist also. One thing you didn't mention was giving the owner/moderator of the group ability to remove or edit photos. The editing should also be allowed for the owner of the photo. No other member can edit or delete another member's photos.

When photos are uploaded, "resize" them for online use. Many folks use the highest resolution and number of colors when taking pictures. These aren't needed for screen viewing, only for full size printing. I've had people email me photos at 4320x3240, 600 dpi, 32 million colors with a file size well over 3 MB when a file that was resampled to 35-50 KB would have worked as well. (not sure if it's feasible, but check for file type and not allow photos to be uploaded to the Files area.) 2. Sub-albums would be nice. I see it as having an album for each member, though not required, and having sub-albums for specific items. 3. I'd like each member to be able to use their own album/sub, but also be able to add to a general group album/sub when needed. 4. Title and description for each photo. 5. Allow owner/moderator to move photos (and files) as needed to maintain the intended layout of the group. Ownership of the file should be maintained by the person that uploaded it. 6. Comments, photostream, rating, and other options aren't currently important to me, but I can see how they could be useful. Duane

I would never use so-called ‘social logins’. If people want that sort of thing, then by all means have it available to them, but don’t let’s all have to suffer it to the exclusion of a proper login. Those of us who abhor social media do not want to go down the road of copying the likes of Google and Facebook. The slide of Yahoo Groups into that sort of thing is exactly why we need a home for our Groups away from Yahoo Neo in the first place!

I believe that social logins (ie. login via Google or Facebook) are some of the most important features that this site could have.
