locked save text of personalized invitation #suggestion

It's great that the text of a message-rejection notice is saved in the activity log. I'd love to also be able to see the text that I sent with an invite. Is it possibly saved somewhere and I just can't find it?

locked Log In Problem

I transferred one of my small Yahoo! Groups to Groups.io a number of weeks ago.  Traffic had been down to non-existent on the Yahoo!Groups site, as it was on the Groups.io site, so I asked members to log in for a first time and relate to me the experience.  One member had a problem logging in for the first time but figured it out herself.  The second member to relate their experience to me sent me this message yesterday (1-25-15):

I’m not sure if anyone has a fix for this, ,but I can’t login.
When I click the link to send me a password I get the same message that takes me back to asking me for a password…..

“Hello,

Here is a link to log into your Groups.io account:

https://groups.io/loginlink/2082103434878688588

It will expire on 01/25/2016 at 11:47am PST. If you did not ask for a login link to be sent to you, please ignore this email.

Cheers,

The Groups.io Team”

Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Best,

Mark Bielecki

You overlooked one little detail:

"[ALERT] The new neo interface has broken the script and I have not found any easy way to work with it. For now the script is not being actively maintained till a solution materializes to access the relevant data easily."

There has been some discussion about folks using PG Offline (http://www.personalgroupware.com/) to get the information they need. It's also in a state of flux because they started over when NEO came on the scene. I used it a couple of years ago to make my own archives of some groups and it worked fine as far as it went then. It looks like they've added a lot of things back in, so probably worth checking out. There is a free 30 day trial available.

I just noticed that when replying on a moderated group, there's no indication that my post is awaiting approval, nor that I posted. It just closes the Reply box and shows the post I replied to. I think it used to present a bar saying"Your message has been sent" or "awaiting approval" or something similar.

If you are banned from a group, the group is not listed in the Your Groups dropdown, nor is it listed on your home page. If you go to a group home page, it will say that you are banned, and won't display the Join/Apply button.

I think the warnings are done on a case by case basis. I'm unable to duplicate it, for example.

Off-list, can you send me the headers for one of the messages that you get the warning from? To do that in Gmail, use the drop down at the top right of the message and select Show Original. Then copy all the message headers and send them to me in a new email. Gmail embeds some authentication information in those, which may show what's happening.

At the bottom of every email, in the footer that we add, if the message is tagged with a hashtag, there's a link to mute that hashtag. Have your member click that link and they'll not receive any more messages muted with that hashtag.

Hope this helps.

Armando,

Yes.

When a member mutes a hashtag (or a thread) that prevents future messages with that hashtag (or in that thread) from being sent to that member. It has no effect on other members.

How do I mute a hashtag for a member, for example if a member doesn't
want to receive RSS feeds like the #feed, the moderator or owner should
mute the hashtag for the member.
I don't think there's any mechanism for you to do that.

I wonder if something went wrong with the fix. Now, after replying to a message, I'm taken to the previous message in the thread - not the one I responded to.

I think if someone has been banned from a group they get a "banned" message. I now remember seeing it in the member notices. I'm not sure what text is in there as a boilerplate, if any, but it seems to go out automatically. Perhaps mods should be able to turn this off?

I think it makes sense to show a group member if they're on moderation in any particular group (although this may brook some disagreement). None of the other members can see the status, BTW - only the member him or herself and the group owner.

However, doing a double-take-slash-delayed-reaction, how can someone see if they're banned? A group they've been banned from should not even show up in their list of groups if they're been banned from it, since they're no longer in it. Right?

Or does that show up somewhere else, like when they look at the group's home page? In which case I think it makes sense, so that they won't try to join it again.
