Nice improvement!
Is this feature supposed to ignore the email address field when doing a search?

I think the #cal-notice hashtag as a special notice might accomplish what I want on both counts.  I'll let you know how it works.

Lori -- Try editing the #cal-notice hashtag and tick the Special checkbox.

Having done so, this will apply to all calendar event notifications, not just birthdays and anniversaries. I agree it might be nice to be able to choose this for each event separately, as we already can for #cal-reminders.

I would also like it if there was a way to put in that member's email specifically so they would get an email for their birthday etc.
A scheduled email to one subscriber (not the whole group) would indeed be a new feature.

Bruce

Following up on what Bruce said, you could do the same with the #cal-summary hashtag (set it to special notice) and get a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly list of upcoming events sent to each member.  We use a weekly cal-summary and it lists the next 10 events. I must admit I haven't tried the bi-weekly or monthly to see if the numbers differ.

Our group uses the calendar mostly for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.  I would like an option to have the notice for the calendar sent out as an individual email to all members, not as part of a digest.  Is that possible already?  I can't see anywhere and the members I've asked who are on digest couldn't remember if it came separately or not.  I would also like it if there was a way to put in that member's email specifically so they would get an email for their birthday etc.  We used to do this manually, with a cc: for the member, but I like this automated calendar better, except for those couple of suggestions.

Thank you.

moderated 'Subscription Options' screen upon new subscription is a no-op #bug #fixed

Jim Avera

When first subscribing to a group using hte "Join This Group" button on the group home page, a "Subscription Options" screen is presented with Individual/DIgest/Etc. options.  However no matter what the user selects, after clicking "Save", the subscription is set to "Individual Message" delivery as shown in the regular Subscription page.

Also, on the Subscription page, those options are called "Email Delivery", not "Subscription Options", which is confusing.

I discovered this when subscribing to beta.groups.io   Attached are screen-shots showing what I see before and after clicking "Save" on the Subscription Options page.

Mark -- Weekly works for me. A couple more things (there's always at least one more thing isn't there?)...

1) When the last attachment is deleted from a message, it still displays a paperclip icon in the Messages/Topics view. This happens whether they are deleted manually or via the attachment purge job.

2) If an attachment is deleted from a message manually (either via editing the message or deleting an image from Emailed Photos), an audit trail entry is created and the message displays an Edited tag. Attachments deleted via the attachment purge job do not.

These are just observations...I'm not proposing that they need to be acted upon.

You were right.  When figuring out if we had deleted enough attachments, we were not taking into account space used by files and photos. So we were deleting fewer attachments than we should have. I've fixed the bug and am currently doing a run.

I have not yet figured out how often to run the process that deletes attachments. I'm thinking probably once a week, unless anyone has a reason it should be run more often.

After reading the posts at GMF about many yahoo email addresses suddenly bouncing, I checked my largest group. I have about 100 bouncing, so I did a search to see how many were yahoo. That's when it got weird.

It shows that there are 60 such addresses, displayed on 3 pages of 20 each. However, pages 1, 2, and 3 show identical information, i.e. the same names, email addresses, etc. The only difference it it says "1-20 of 60" on the first page, "21-40 of 60" on the second, and "41-60 of 60" on the third.

Looking over the original bouncing list (before the search is applied) it does appear that there are around 60 yahoo addresses. It's just that they don't actually show up properly after the search. If I click on the member on the second or third page, it really does take me to the same member's record.

Thanks,
Su

moderated Search Function - Search Options Available From All Pages #suggestion

Bill Hazel

Situation:
The Search function is different depending on which page your on.
Target:
A standardized Search interface across the platform.
Proposal:
I suggest that the initial Search function be:
  • Standardized across all pages, with the search box located in the top right-hand corner
    • Less confusing for new users
  • A drop-down menu with the different choices (See below for a quick and dirty sample)
    • There could be a whole conversation about what to include
    • Default could be with current page at top of list and/or the only source searched if nothing is picked, I'm not a coder so I have no idea what's involved with this.
      • List could be multiple choice with Control key but that would probably be labor intensive.
I understand that depending on the source being searched that there are differences in how the information is displayed. I think I'd keep the Message search result options, especially if Messages were included in the search.

moderated Re: "locked" icon disappears from topics in results of a hashtag filter/search #bug #fixed

The bug is worse than I thought. With the sole exception of topics that were locked via a hashtag, the lock icon fails to appear in *any* search that returns a message or topic, not just a hashtag search.

If you search on a term that returns the topic, the topic does not appear locked. Yet if you're looking at the topic or message in the message list (not the result of a search), the lock icon does show up.

It's not for us to give priority to bugs, but this would be at the top of my list if I could make one. I am repeatedly trying to lock topics via some search, and the lock icon keeps failing to appear. and I keep locking them over and over again - until I get out from the search, look at the full message list, and see the  lock icon there.

moderated Re: "locked" icon disappears from topics in results of a hashtag filter/search #bug #fixed

Here is a refinement of the bug:
The lock icon does disappear in a hashtag search if the topic was locked by hand.
But it does not disappear if the topic was locked via some hashtag.
