Yes, when you do the easy group transfer, in the email giving me the go ahead for the transfer, mention this.

Added now for all future special messages.

Subject says it all. Nice one! No force reloading necessary. Cheers!!!

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for testing. I finally think I have it working now. Can you try it again? You may have to force reload (hold down the shift key while hitting the reload button).

Thanks,
Mark

Will stick with plain text composition until this is fixed. Safari is the browser being used here but I do have Chrome if anyone wants me to test it there.

Oversight. Now when you view an individual photo, it will display who uploaded it.

locked HMTL editor accessibility

Hi All,

I had received reports that the toolbar when composing an HTML post was not accessible for some screen readers; some screen readers would not say the names of the toolbar buttons. If this happened to you, can you test it again? I just made a change which I hope should fix it. Please let me know.

Uh oh. You know what they say, you break it, you buy it! :-)

It's fixed now. When creating new folders, we weren't catching a type of error, which led to a bogus entry in the search database. We're now catching that error and that bogus entry has been removed from the search database.

Thanks,
Mark

locked Re: hovering over column to bring up column description #suggestion

Edited

Here are some hypothetical examples from a hypothetical musicians database:

instrument played (select all that apply)

preferred styles (select all that apply)

years of experience (include only professional experience)

your musical philosophy (purpose of music, meaning of music, etc. - limit 3 sentences)

--

J

p.s. the column titles themselves might be shorter - instrument, preferred styles, experience, philosophy. And the descriptions might be longer than in these examples. My idea is to keep the titles themselves short to save space in the table, but to give the user all the detail needed in the description, and to make those details easily available with the hover. Maybe these were not the best examples. :-)

There is only one folder in the real files. From Page Three of the files:

I can't delete the ghost folder (the one that says it has 191 documents in it)  as the button doesn't work but the link goes the folder from page three (which does NOT contain 191 documents).  This must be a job for The Ghost Busters.  If it is of any relevance, we have 191 folders in the files right now.

locked Re: Y! Groups photos, files, databases

Mark,

I have an exporter now for photos, files and databases out of a Yahoo
Group. It's not hooked up to the easy group transfer process yet, but
will be soon.
!!! (old-school excitement emoticon)

Please then go through and verify that the photos and files look
correct. Specifically, I want to make sure I fetch the best resolution
version of the photos (i.e. the original that was uploaded).
You may encounter a watershed in Y!Groups photo storage towards the end of 2005. There was a redesign that eliminated the storage of original size uploads. I don't know, but it is likely that original sizes uploaded before that date were discarded also and only the "large" (800x600) resize kept.
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/PHOTOSUPGRADETEST/info
Some groups (or some group members) began storing original size images in the Files section to avoid the resizing.

Another watershed may be found toward the end of February 2007, when Photo storage was expanded from 30 MB to 100 MB. I don't recall if that one included any functional or UI changes.
http://web.archive.org/web/20070307155101/http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-nNIST_woRKGLBc4JxGgUEhtmZ_EL?
(scroll to the bottom item)

There was a re-design of the Photos section which rolled out in late 2008 to early 2009 which dramatically expanded the storage limit to 100 GB. That rollout included a return to storing original size photos and number of UI changes, I think including the ability to leave comments on photos.
http://web.archive.org/web/20130121141204/http://www.ygroupsblog.com/blog/2008/09/29/yahoo-groups-photos-media-storage-enhancements/

And of course, the "Neo" redesign of 2013 may have caused further changes.

locked Y! Groups photos, files, databases

Hi All,

I have an exporter now for photos, files and databases out of a Yahoo Group. It's not hooked up to the easy group transfer process yet, but will be soon. First, I need a couple of groups to test it out. Do you have a Y! Group with a lot of photos and files (and maybe databases), and would you like a copy of all of those? Invite transfer@groups.io to be a member of your group. Once I accept the invite, you'll have to make the transfer user a moderator, like before. Then send me an email that you'd like to help test the new exporter. I'll export all that from your group and email you a zip of it all. Please then go through and verify that the photos and files look correct. Specifically, I want to make sure I fetch the best resolution version of the photos (i.e. the original that was uploaded).

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

I was thinking that it could bring up the actual column description, as entered by the creator of the table when it was created.

It would be nice to make column descriptions easily accessible by members, even if the table is only editable by moderators, without having to throw all the details into the column name itself. (For example, in a multi multiple-choice answer, I'm having to add "select all that apply" to the column name.)

Can you give me an example of what the hover text would be? Say for a single line text column and for a multiple choice column?

Thanks,
Mark
