Go to the Subscription page in your group. What does the "Email Delivery History" tab tell you?

That's the first place to look to figure out delivery problems; hopefully it will have some kind of evidence for what happened. If it has no unsuccessful deliveries or bounces during this time period then chances are the problem is on your mail service's end.

It works, but only in thread view. In message view, I've noticed that if you enter a string enclosed in quotes the search box reverts to a bunch of symbols and doesn't find the string. But in thread view, it works fine.

I've been trying to search for messages containing _exact_ phrases in the message body
I've tried variations "the phrase here"  'the phrase here'  etc but none of those seem to work as expected. I just get messages containing the individual words somewhere in them.

Is there something I'm missing, or is this not possible?

Would it be possible to have bulk operation functionality for moderators applying hashtags?

For example
I have been searching for all threads with the words "Intro", "Introduction" "new member" etc in the topic and then individually going into each one and typing #intro into the subject. It is exhausting on a 10 year old message archive.

It would be really useful to be able to select the threads I want from search results, and then choose a hashtag to apply from a dropdown list of currently defined hashtags.

Just found when I set up my email alias, it was Jan 13, so it's very doubtful that's the problem.

I'm the owner of kasergames group.

Recently (over the past four days, at least) I'm not receiving emails from my group.  There haven't been a LOT in that time, but I haven't received any of them.  Some time in the past 2-3 weeks (I honestly don't know, it could have been 3 week, it could have been 5-7 days ago) I added an email alias to my account.  I don't know if that's possibly the problem, but I've checked that alias account, and they don't seem to be going there either.

I also have a second account in the same group (digest@...), and it hasn't been receiving a digest either, the last one was on Feb 10.

Any idea what might be going on?

Changes to the site since Friday:

  • BUGFIX: For threads without subjects, display "(no subject)" so that there's a link to click on.
  • BUGFIX: Fixed links to uploaded photos from the activity log.
  • CHANGE: Possible fix for Outlook messages generating weird spacing.
  • BUGFIX: Fix for some messages in digests including the entire quoted reply when it shouldn't.
  • INTERNAL: Improvements in Y! Groups archive export system.
  • CHANGE: In Full Digests, changed the Reply To This Message to be a mailto that varies depending on the group's reply to setting.
  • BUGFIX: Make sure subscription to parent group is approved before allowing subscription to subgroups.
  • CHANGE: When replying to a message on the site, show a flash message saying the message has been sent or is pending.
  • CHANGE: Display time along with date in activity log.
  • CHANGE: Mention the group name, if there is one, in the confirmation email.
  • CHANGE: On the welcome page displayed after confirming your account, display a list of the groups you're subscribed to.
  • NEW: If you type into any of the fields in the group post page and attempt to leave the page, you'll get a warning dialog.
  • BUGFIX: Don't send member notices that consist just of HTML tags (ie don't send blank member notices).
  • BUGFIX: Search posts by user (from the group home page Top Posters list) didn't work past the first page.
  • BUGFIX: Wasn't logging edited messages in the activity log correctly.

Hi All,

I've mostly gone with Shal's suggestion for the full digest footer change. Reply to this message has been replaced. Depending on the group's reply to setting, it is now 'Reply to Group', 'Reply to Sender' or 'Reply to Moderators'. And it is now a mailto: link instead of going to the web site.

I nominate "Reply To This Message", as it is all but redundant with "View This Message" - the difference being only a click of the Reply link on site.

I suggest replacing it with a mailto: link, and I suggest having that link be "Reply to Group", "Reply to Sender", or "Reply to Moderators", according to the group's Reply To setting. I think that would be right for the majority of users. Or, at least as right as the group manager's choice for the Reply To setting. It also has the merit of being consistent with the behavior of the Reply function for individual mail.

Now the problem, which I haven't figured out, is how to give the digest user an easy way to select a destination other than the one chosen by the group's setting. The other two, if present at all, should be much less prominent somehow than the setting's destination.

It may be that those aren't needed, really, as the user could always alter the To: in his/her mail composition window, just as the would have to do if replying to an Individual message.

I do remember the issue of a new thread starting when even the subject line didn't change. That used to occur a lot in Y!G, and I think Mark has motly fixed this here by the matching you describe. However, for me, new threads are still starting every time a member changes a subject line in an email.

Since it was a message transferred from another site, there may be some that way. I know it was a common problem on the Y groups I was on.

I've had a few like that. If the reply gets matched to the proper thread, it won't change the subject online, but not sure about the individual emails sent out. I think there's some testing done, but not sure exactly what it is, maybe looking for the original thread ID in the header. (I've also had a few that started a new thread, even though the subject wasn't changed. That happened when they started a reply, saved a draft, and sent it later.)
