Duane is right. ID goes back to the early days of databases where every row is assigned a unique and permanent number. One benefit is finding duplicates to remove the later entry.

That means that you're replying online, not from within TB. That's the only place you'd get the "balloon" to quote.

This is confusing. I do inline quoting (interspersing) all the time when replying to (plain) digests. Click "reply to this message", click the "balloon" to quote...

Please try to be more patient. Some suggestions take longer than others to get on the 'important' list, if they ever do. I know of one case where it took almost 4 years before it was deemed

We're way ahead of you.:) Herb G determined that it's a bug in the most recent TB upgrade. The last version didn't do it.

I almost never use the footer links in either individual or digest messages. Specifically because I inline reply with quote, as herein, and the footer links don't give me a copy of

That's the way it works. The ID numbers never change and are created when a new row is added. The number is deleted when you delete a row, but they're never used again on that database.

Having to tick each box every time I want to back up my group is kinda tedious. Clearing them one by one after being checked is also.
