On behalf of the three groups I own, none of which has a budget, I have to agree that even $90 a year is too much. That's why we went ONElist, eGroups, Yahoo, and now groups.io.

The Free Basic Acct was tossed out in the ether.. We bit and took the bait… So it seems..
Sounds like those paying customers need to get over themselves… they get premiums that we Basic

Well the goal for a paid product isn't to gripe over the fact that you
want to pay for it or not. This is why I'm against things being
offered for free. People lose focus or sight of what they wish

I am totally against basic members giving monthly payments regardless of the cost. Some people might not be able afford even $1 a month.
