For those running such a group the choices seem stark: pay up, go small, or go elsewhere.
That is, pay extra for additional members (beyond the number included in your group plan), don't pay

I used "sponsored" to refer to slots paid for by the group owner (either as part of the base allotment or purchased with a per/member fee). In that sense it is a benevolent

I don't believe that's true. I think Mark would have some sort of setting at the group level to determine if a site membership would be required. A new group would have a limited number of free

Memebers of a group are members oilf a group and not members of IO.
