This appears to have affected things besides sent messages. Our six invites last night were marked as "sending" instead of "sent" until this morning, causing me to think something else was the cause.

Yes, we are. "Edit email addresses & confirm members" is clearly labeled as a feature of a Premium/Enterprise group on the pricing page.

The other solution is to make a system change. I see no reason not to. It is not in my budget to support two premium groups, and the second one has less than 100 members. --

It just dawned on me that there's a super simple answer to this, and J mentioned it in the first message - Upgrade your group to Premium. Confirming members is one of the things you get when you pay

I agree entirely with that... the only problem is that it is quite common to get no response to the Pending Subscription message; even a couple of reminders can fail to get a response.
