Sorry Mark, I did not mean to imply I had seen them on groups.io messages (*). I have recently become aware of them on replies through a Mailman system and on replies through a UK academic

Those have been removed for quite some time now. I'm not sure how you are seeing that; I just tested it and it strips [ext] from the subject line as expected.

I've added 'Ré:' and 'Objet :' to the list of subject line prefixes that indicate replies. I've also added '[EXT]' to the list of prefixes that we ignore when figuring out whether a subject

Duane -- Clear out the existing entry and the column name will appear as gray "placeholder" text. Not sure that's optimal, but it may be by design.

If by that you mean ignore anything (except the groupname) within [] then that could be problematic because there are words that are commonly used with square brackets.

I can see that. Our group is used to referring to the previous minutes in the current meeting, so I'd probably wind up with a two month window instead. At that point, once is year takes less

I use a similar tactic, but move the files every month so only the latest are in the main directory. Adds up to the same amount of time over the year, but only a little bit each month.
