So if I understand correctly, we should ignore the fact that the Activity log says "left via web" and "resumed via web". It could actually have been done by email, but the log calls it via the web.

They may be using "greylisting" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greylisting_(email) - which is where an email server sends a temporary error response for any unrecognized sender. Proper mailers will

I'm wondering if he is using the word "bounce" correctly. One organization I volunteer for deals with anything they consider spam by simply deleting it. No bounce, no notifications, no fbl, period. So

Does he forward group messages to other people? If so, they could be clicking on the Unsubscribe link in the message footers.
Sounds like a very user hostile way of doing spam prevention.

It seems we're being targeted by someone who is subscribing to Groups.io groups and then forwarding messages sent to those groups on to other people, many of whom have never even heard of

We've been on groups.io for 5 years and never had anything like that.
We've always been a restricted group and membership is over 3000, per the new member accounting system<g>

I thought this worked the other way around. That is, an additional REPLY-TO field (to reply to the group) is in the message header by default and if you use a Reply To Sender Only hashtag, it is not

Browser back button results not consistent

It was pointed out to me that using the browser back button does not always take you back one page as you would expect. Steps to repeat the issue are:
