This thread seems to have moved away from the original query into "email presentation", so can I ask in what way does the existing Your Groups / Manage My Subscriptions page, or the Feed page not meet

Mark,
Among the questions I see with the Comprehensive Way is how to count when a message is read, particularly in the case of Expanded view. But even for Topics, do you count all the replies as read

There once was a man from St. Bees
Who was stung in the arm by a wasp
When asked, "Does it hurt."
He replied, "No it doesn't."
"I'm so glad it wasn't a hornet."

Yeah, that fixes it. Here's the limerick:

Glenn,
Yup. I just couldn't figure out a way to express the ambiguity in the haiku. Speaking of which...
J's private lim'rick
says my count is wrong. Oh... oops:
Lines out of order.

No, we'd remember regardless of how/when you accessed things. This is better than trying to rely on the browser to change the color of links of messages you've visited, as that doesn't apply across

Wow, you guys won't give me any poetic license! That's what I meant. :) Here's a simple correction for the literal-minded:
A fencepost error:
Mistaking 10 boundaries
For 9 parts within.
