It'll happen, just haven't gotten to it yet. Nobody mentioned it when I put out my mid-year update.

Yep. You want to use the test version.

I just noticed what I think is a bug with regard to date/time display.  In my Profile I have set my Time Display to "Absolute" which shows, as its example, "Jan 13, 2016, 4:47pm".  This is actually what I wanted, a full date-time stamp.

I'm not getting "relative" results, but partial absolute.  For things from today the threads show the time of last post added, which is fine because I get that today is implied, but for anything older all that's showing is month and day.

For awhile I've been moving towards the shorter display that you're seeing and ignoring the user preference. It's not everywhere yet, but that's the direction. This type of display is more consistent with other sites and is easier to deal with on mobile (because's it's shorter). You can still see the absolute date/time by hovering over.

Go to beta@ in Expanded View and scroll down trying to find a message that /doesn't/ have a word broken across lines. Ok, there are some, but many messages have at least one.

The word wrap issue with Firefox and the new version should be fixed (I was not able to duplicate the problem with Chrome).

I did but the window didn't work for me. I'll try again later after taking a cat to the vet. :-) Thanks.

Hi All,

Along with those changes, additional changes and fixes have been made that affect viewing the site on desktop as well. While not perfect (yet!), the new version is much better than the existing version of the site. Also, having two version is confusing for everybody, so I want to switch over to the new version as soon as possible, which I hope to do on Friday. I'd encourage you to play with the new version before then, on either desktop or mobile, and let me know if you have any feedback.

To switch between versions, go to https://groups.io/test

Thanks. I think this is going to be hard on my iPhone, which is still a5S (I'm skipping 6 and 7 on advice and waiting for 8), and I don't have an iPad. But I will soldier on for the cause LOL. :-)

While I'm at it: meanwhile I did go to the test version on my laptop, and I can't search at all from threads view. There's a magnifying glass but it doesn't seem to allow a search. This is probably just in a state of flux so I will ignore...

The new mobile version isn't an APP. It's mobile web via your mobile browser - just like before but an updated improved version.

What you are seeing at that test URL that you can toggle to is (i think)  what I see and I'm enrolled in the new desktop / new mobile version.

Try entering that URL in to your iphone's browser and your desktop and I think you will see what I see and the new search options.

I see the check boxes in both the desktop and mobile version because I'm in the new test version.

Just go to https://groups.io/test to toggle it. I believe the 'undefined' bug is also fixed in the test version.

locked Re: Possible bug with "I always want copies of my own messages"? #bug

I tried turning conversation view off in gmail. I send a message via email (as before, with "individual emails" and "always want" checked) and got the same as you all are getting: 1 email in my inbox, and 2 in my sent folder. The fire one of the two has the subject of the message preceded by the group tag in brackets.

So with conversation view off, it's reversed: instead of 2 in the inbox and 1 in the sent folder, it's 1 in the inbox and 2 in the sent folder. Same as what's been reported here.

This happens consistently: click "Reply," click "Insert Quoted Message." The quoted message appears and the word "undefined" appears below it.

locked Re: Possible bug with "I always want copies of my own messages"? #bug

Maria

PS: if you unclick always want then the situation is worse:

- you don't get a copy in your inbox at all if you've sent an email to groups.io via email (but it's in your sent folder)

- you do get a copy of your own email if you sent it via web

And if you switch to conversations view ON it doesn't fix it by bringing the ones in sent over to your inbox...they stay in sent

That's obviously a GMAIL issue as Shal explained and as I've now read a lot about on google forums ( happens with Y! and there is no workaround there) - and even though the duplicate isn't ideal when you select "always send"- its only for your own messages when sent via email and at least it fixes whatever GMAIL thinks it's doing by not showing you messages you have sent in your inbox. I'd rather two than none at the end of the day if there is no solution...

Brian

I've never used Outlook so this maybe totally irrelevant but check this out:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njtlx5Z1E8A

Maybe if you fiddle with those settings, it may resolve copy #3? Or maybe not.

And - yes - that's what i see in my gmail sent box with conversations OFF. The two copies - one has that "inbox" tag" next to it and one does not. Anything send via web is not shown as a duplicate in sent.
