Hi Sue,

When looking at the RSVP function, I'd recommend using the new mobile version, as that's much better.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Many thanks. It now takes me back to the home page of the sub group.
A couple of thoughts. Because it took me back to the home page without any confirming message that my response had been noted, I had to go back in to the event to double check it had worked this time.
Also perhaps the button could be renamed to say 'confirm' or 'save' once the response has been selected.
Thank you,
Sue

locked New search options

Hi All,

In the new mobile version, there are two new checkboxes for search. First, when viewing a particular thread and you bring up the search dialog, there's a checkbox to search only within the thread you're viewing. Second, in the search results page, there's a checkbox to Collapse Threads. This will return only matching threads. A matching thread is one where either there is a match in the thread subject, or a match in one of the message bodies within that thread. The Collapse Threads checkbox does not show up if you're searching within a thread.

Please let me know what you think and if you see anything weird.

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks, Mark. This whole thing is very weird. As I said, I'd resigned myself to it until I saw Brian's post and then I thought, ok, it's not just me. But then, miraculously, it went away overnight - at least for now.

Is "always want copies" the default when someone creates a new account? If so, I will know to preemptively explain to new members that if they get duplicate emails they have to go in and turn it off. Thanks.

Yes, it defaults to checked for new accounts.

I haven't changed anything with the code, so if you're seeing different behavior this morning, that's not from us.

Brian, I can absolutely believe that using Outlook or another email client to access Gmail would result in extra copies.

Thanks,
Mark

Mine is fine. Maybe try reloading your web browser?

Or send a screen shot from iphone to the support @ groups.io email ?

Well, in Gmail I'm now receiving triplicates if I post responses from Outlook.  If I post the same responses from Gmail I'm only receiving duplicates.

I also have to say that I'd forgotten what a mess the conversation view is in MS-Outlook.  I guess there's a reason I stopped using e-mail clients in general some years ago.  Even with the advent of IMAP (which is ancient now) I still use the Gmail web interface on any computer I'm on where I want to check personal e-mail.

p.s. I see you're referring to Outlook. Something in gmail has also changed, since I *stopped* receiving the duplicates.

In case anyone doubts the triplicate, here’s the screen shot as an attachment.  Sending this via Outlook to see if I get a triplicate on it in Gmail, but won’t bother posting if I do.  If I get quadruplicate, however . . .

Yep, another triplicate in Gmail and singleton in Outlook from that last reply, too.  I'll stop now, as I'm not bucking for quadruplicate!!

There can be no doubt that there is a bug of some kind.  I should not be seeing different inbox results based on the e-mail access method I'm using.  This has never, ever occurred for any other source.

Ooooh, curiouser and curiouser!!!  That last message sent from Outlook in orange showed up in *triplicate* in the Gmail web interface, but as a singleton in Outlook itself.

Sending this reply again from Outlook to see if I get another triplicate.

There’s been some sort of change as far as the behavior in Outlook goes.  Last night I was getting duplicates that appeared in my inbox in Outlook and in Gmail’s web interface.  As of this morning I’m not seeing those duplicates in Outlook.

This message in Frank Lloyd Wright’s Eaglefeather font using deep orange as the color, and coming via e-mail using Outlook to send.

Duplicate on that duplicate received message, too.  This is being posted via the web interface, and I've yet to receive a duplicate when posting using the Groups.io web interface.

Whatever this is with e-mail and those settings is still in full force for me.  The same messages and duplicates are seen in MS-Outlook 2010 that accesses the e-mail account I post from gets the duplicates.  After this one shows up I'll try responding from Outlook to see if that changes anything about the behavior.

Yep.  Duplicate received.  This reply is coming to you via Gmail in Verdana with green as the color.

That last message is the first that has ever carried over the font, though my default font is Garamond and perhaps that's one that Groups.io substitutes for, as it can't have every possible font out there.

I've reset my subscription to "All Messages" and profile to "always want" and am sending this reply from the Gmail web interface, not the Groups.io forum interface.  I'll report back regarding whether I'm getting a duplicate as of this morning.  It was 100% consistent in giving me duplicates yesterday.

I'm also using Comic Sans as my font and blue-purple as my color and suspect the blue-purple will carry over.

I think that's correct (I don't pay as much attention as I should to digest mode, so I'm not sure). But I think I see where you're going with this. The word "always" always bothered me in that phrase. It is wishy-washy - because what is its negation? "Sometimes not"? But when I asked Mark about it early on, I began to understand from him that the ways of the various email clients are unpredictable (if I understood even a glimmering of it), and that the hedging was necessary.

But yes, it seems to apply only to when the subscription is "individual email." I see now that it is falsity if someone is subscribed via digest.

But that if I am set to "all messages" i do see a copy in the "sent" box and it's also tagged "inbox" there and of course i see it in my inbox as well because i'm set to get all messages? Or is something not working there?
