Re: Edited Messages
Judy F.
I am having a concern with edited messages. I have gotten two in my inbox (Outlook) and unless I sit here and compare it word for word, I don’t know what was edited. I could do that, but I sure don’t want to waste my time doing it. If the messages hadn’t come in on the same day, I would have to go back and find the original message and compare it.
With the two messages from Duane, he did say ‘More details’, so I guess I can assume (which I hate to do) that this is all additional information. Could have been the adding of a number or correcting a number.
What am I missing here?

[Edited Message Follows] More details. I downloaded the csv files for both groups. I did a line by line comparison for sorting on User and Email. Sorting on Email, all matches up except for the fact that NC members aren't downloaded. I can live with that unless it's a super easy change. Sorting on User, on group1 (50 members shown, 49 with NC) , there were 11 duplicates online (2=NC) and 10 that didn't show up at all online that are in the csv (not counting NC). In group2 (46 shown, 46 with NC), there were 6 duplicates online (1=NC) and 6 that don't show online. In both cases, the duplicates are counted as part of the group membership shown on the group home page.

I'm not sure if it's temporary as a result of your manipulations or if it will now always be this way, but I like that User is sorted by email address until I get to those with an actual User name. That was actually the main problem. I needed to specify a second sort field, otherwise Postgres would send back duplicates for people without names. I should have done this in the first place, as sorting secondarily by email makes sense. Thanks, Mark

Re: "Your groups"
You should only get the numbers for groups in which you're a moderator/owner and for which you have the correct privileges to act on whoever/whatever needs approval. Mark

Hi Chris,

If the list owners want to entice you to join, they can write a longer (better?) description if the group appears in the directory. You can, of course, see how active it is, how many members, last post, etc. Frances

Encrypted email connections
All, I just enabled incoming encrypted email connections. This should be completely transparent and there should be no issues. But I've learned never to say never. So, if you or one of your members can't seem to send a message to your groups, please ping my @corp.groups.io email address with the details. Thanks, Mark

Yeah, everyone seems to be defaulting to private groups which is annoying because I can't see the content in a group before I decide whether I want to join or not.

Re: "Your groups"
I figured out that the number is the total number of people and/or messages awaiting approval. At that point I usually go to what is now named Your Subscriptions (https://groups.io/groups) and it shows which of those are pending on each group. You could also go to the group and it will show the individual numbers next to Pending or Members. I'm the owner of the groups where I've seen this. I don't know if mods would see it or not. Probably depends on their permissions.

Donna,
About that Your Groups in the black header, I am seeing a white "1"It meant that there was one pending member. Since November. Oops, not sure why I was ignoring that. Is there a way to remove it?It should go away now that I've approved the member. -- Shal

Re: "Your groups"
About that Your Groups in the black header, I am seeing a white "1" inside of a grey circle. When I click on it to view the drop down menu, I see that the "1" is next to Shal's test group. When I click on that group, I see the "1" next to Members. I click on Members and don't see it next to any of the members' names. I am guessing that it means there is a new member; but the newest member joined the group 17 days ago. If the "1" means something else, can you explain, please? If it means what I think it means, how long will it stay there? Is there a way to remove it?

Re: How does one follow a topic or hashtag?
I followed up on this. Setting it to All Mail seems to enable the Mute button only. Setting it to First Message Only seems to enable the Follow button only. Back to No Email and no extra buttons.

I'd like to be able to reply to any message in plain text, but I'm not sure if this is plain text or RTF. I've added it to the todo list. Thanks, Mark

Re: How does one follow a topic or hashtag?
Duane,
I don't see a way to Follow a thread though.LOL, which brings us full circle to my original post. Turns out the buttons are only visible when you've opened a thread from the Inbox view. Because I have this subscription set to No Email possibly?Possibly. The current implementation is tied to one's Email Delivery setting, and I think that ought not be so. -- Shal

Re: "Your groups"
I changed it to 'Your Subscriptions'. I think that's definitely better, because on that page you can modify your subscriptions. I think 'Your Groups' in the black header makes sense because you use that to go to a particular group. Unless someone has a better idea. :) Thanks, Mark
