Also, topics are hashtagged and deleted. Not messages.

The member would have no way of knowing their message was deleted if the duration has expired, especially if duration is changed my the moderator.

Also, if there are 2 hashtags with different durations, it seem from a data integrity point of view that the longest duration should determine the deletion point.

Thanks for your consideration.

I am the owner of the Lowrey Forum, a group for organists and music lovers.  Our members upload a large number of their recordings in MP3 format to our Files section.  I would like to provide our members with a way to add favorite MP3 files to a local audio app playlist so that they can customize what they want to listen to.  I can do that if Groups.io will add in a streaming music service to the platform.  Is adding such a feature possible?

Hello Mark, quite a few years ago, I was alerted of a co-owners payment method no longer being valid wouldn't that be the same as unable to make a payment as we are discussing below seems like to me it would be. Seems how I received the same message that he did.

moderated Site updates #changelog

Changes to the site this week:

October 15, 2021:

October 14, 2021:

  • BUGFIX: In replies to messages that had been merged into a different topic, we were using the subject of the original, pre-merge, message instead of the subjec of the merged-into topic. Discussion
  • CHANGE: We now send messages to all moderators instead of just the payor for the following billing issues: when an invoice is one week overdue, and when we downgrade a group because of an overdue invoice (at two weeks).

October 13, 2021:

  • NEW: There is now an overall Pending Messages page, where you can review all the pending messages for all the groups you're a moderator of. Discussion
  • CHANGE: Include Monthly Reminder notices in the Member Notices selector when sending a message to a member. Discussion
  • NEW: Activity log entries are now generated when pending subscriptions and messages are deleted because they expired. The log entries are of the form "test@...'s pending subscription expired and was deleted, via system" and "test@...'s pending message "test" expired and was deleted, via system". Also, in the Past Members page, expired pending members are now listed as 'Expired' instead of 'Removed'. Discussion
  • INTERNAL: We now check for and fix inconsistencies in our internal counts for numbers of topics in a group. These inconsistencies could have led to not being able to view all topics in the archive for a group.

The next #changelog will be sent on Friday, October 22nd.

Take care everyone.

Mark

Just use the existing methods which already display date and time in the user/subscriber's preferred format. Date and time are displayed in many places already.

Hi Mark,

>>> Part-1:  There is a bug somewhere in the merge process ...

Yes it definitely is, clicking on Reply prefills the correct subject now, thanks!

>>> Part-2
> When replying via email to a message that has been merged into a different topic (with a different subject),
> we automatically rewrite the incoming reply's subject line to match the merged-into topic subject,
> and we should thread it properly into the merged-into topic. I just tested it and it worked for me.

Works for you?? Doggone it, I now had to tax my grey matter again, lol, but seriously, your reply made me setup a test case in a test group and I was able to replicate both your successful and my unsuccessful threading outcomes.

Turns out this Part2 threading problem is not merge-related, it's split-related.  Change merged into split in your statement above, and now an email-reply to a message which used to belong to TopicA-subject (but has been split into TopicB-subject) and hence still has the original TopicA-subject in the reply email, eludes detection and no subject-rewriting takes place, no subject-matching takes place (even if there exists an active TopicA-subject in the archive), and instead creates a new "clone" TopicA-subject.  So in merged threads it does what you stated but in split threads it behaves differently.

I just emailed you both the real-world and test-case details to the support address.

Thanks and Cheers,
Christos

Actually, that's already done.  It has to be because of the options on which messages a person will get based on following, muted, etc.  It's also done based on the person's selected time zone so they don't all (try to) get sent at once.

Agreed, but non-trivial. It would require generating a separate digest/summary for each subscriber, not just by time zone.

if I recall correctly, the digests do not currently conform to each subscriber's preferred date format.

Why not use the time zone preference of the user it's being sent to?

(That would mean customizing the Digest for each user - is that done already?)

On digest emails, it would be useful to add topic creation date and last reply
date to each topic in the list of New Replies. Among other things this would
indicate new replies to "old" posts, as well as the age of the topic.
In whose time? UTC?

For example:
Maybe better use the international standard-format rather than the USA-one. 10-14-21 reads as either the tenth day of the 14th month of the 21st year, or the 21st day of the 14th month of 2010....

I don't have an opinion in favour or against the suggestion itself

They should receive this:

510 5.1.1 Your email address, xxxx @ address.net, is not subscribed to that group. To subscribe, send an email to groupname+subscribe@groups.io, or visit https://groups.io/g/groupname

Whether they read it or not is another matter!

It would be helpful to get notified so I can head off any confusion.

I'm either not understanding what you are trying to do or it's easy ...
1. Tick "Allow non-members to post"
2. You receive a message held for moderation notice
3. Moderate appropriately
Non-member messages are never allowed through unmoderated.

As written in my subject line - of a non-member attempting to post. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
