>>> I just stopped merging whenever possible. Yeah, I didn't have a choice in this case, because when I initially split the topic (which works fine), there were some later messages carried over to the new off-topic thread that had to be moved back to the old topic as they belonged there, so I had to then play that back-n-forth split & merge game to corral the messages back to their correct pens ... the joys of having an unmoderated group with no subject discipline and a worn-out flogging stick. What would make something like this a lot easier would be to be able to multi-select individual messages within a topic and either do a Split-into-new-topic or Merge/Move-into-existing-topic, maybe something like the /topics-test page. That makes sense.

I have added this. Now when you go to https://groups.io, or to your enterprise domain, there is a new 'Pending' sidebar entry where you can view all the pending messages for all of your groups. There are no Edit and Reject buttons on this display like there are for pending messages on individual groups. Can we add those please? Thanks Andy

Why would you want both "edit" and "reject" simultaneously? There is already a reject option when you edit a pending message. I just want the option to select one of my pre-defined rejection notices if I decide that rather than continue with an edit, the message should be rejected. Currently a blank rejection notice panel is displayed and I don't see why I should need to type in new message text when I already have the text in a notice that I can select when rejecting the same message via a slightly different route. Hashtag Duration options
#suggestion
Currently the options for hashtag durations jumps from 1 month to 1 year...big jump. I would like to see a couple of intermediate options like 3 months and 6 months.
Thanks for considering it. Peace, Tom

The way I see it, the Hashtag Topic Duration indicates when to delete a Topic, not necessarily a specification of the Topic's ultimate lifetime. A Hashtag duration of "Forever" is more like "Not limited" or "None", meaning that this Hashtag won't cause the Topic to be deleted. But having a duration of "Forever" is not a guarantee that the topic lasts forever and you can never delete it, either with another Hashtag or manually. That's how I see it.
Perhaps use of the word "Forever" is misleading? I use a few Hashtags here and there, most without any Topic Duration. The ones with a limited Topic Duration cause the topic to be deleted, even if another Hashtag was attached. Andy

Every month my group gets the “topic deleted by system due to expired hashtag” log entry for our group guidelines. ???

Hi All, I've added two new activity log entries, one for expired pending members and the other for expired pending messages. The entries are of the forms: test@...'s pending subscription expired and was deleted, via system" and "test@...'s pending message "test" expired and was deleted, via system test@...'s pending message "test" expired and was deleted, via system We currently do not log when topics are locked or deleted via hashtag rules. Is there any reason why I should not add activity log entries for those actions as well? Thanks, Mark

Okay, here is my issue. I have a number of posts which have a valid timeframe of less than a year, but within that same hashtag there are some which are permeant. I would like to have 2 hashtags: #hashtag1 has a duration of 1 year, and #hashtag2 has a duration of forever. That way folks posting under hashtag 1 will be deleted, but if also include hashtag 2 they will not be deleted.
Suggestions? Thanks, Tom

I agree with Duane. The most restrictive restriction should win.

Great question! Maybe the system should disallow that situation in the first place?
