Mark -- When I go to the Recent Bounces page at https://groups.io/account?page=bounces, I see that Digest #449 bounced on Sept 15. That's all. It would be handy if these entries included the Subject Tag or the group name or some indication as to what group this bounce originated from so I can go there and read what I missed.

Thanks for your consideration,
Bruce

Marina,

I don’t think that P should be the default setting fir group owners.

But what you noticed is indeed a bug. You can even find this in the Help description of this setting.

I apologize for the wrong tag, I couldn't, and still can't, see any reason for the present restricted behaviour so I thought it was a bug.
I agree with Catlady that the override should do its work and include even threads moderated via hashtag.

I don't remember if I chose myself this posting privilege, but I think it should be the default setting for group owners to give them total control over the group.

I hope that Mark will consider this suggestion.

Shal,

That's not correct. It overrides moderated threads. This was a requested (by me) and implemented change long ago. And it should also therefore override threads moderated via hashtag.

moderated Re: "Override: not moderated" does not work when using moderated hashtags #bug

Marina,

So, apparently, Posting *is not* always allowed and the "Override: Not
moderated" privilege does not override moderated hashtags.
Correct.

That is by design: the member Posting Privilege Overrides override only the group's Moderation setting, not any of the other things which may cause a message to be moderated. This is suggested by the fact that the only non-Override is "Use Group Moderation Setting". Perhaps this needs to be said more explicitly with an explanatory text under the control.

So what you have is more of a #suggestion to change the meaning of this control, or to create additional controls for overriding other causes of moderation.

No, wait -- I see the problem now.

Apparently, it waits while loading the full list of members into the drop-down menu, before showing the Name and Description edit boxes.  I'm using Google Chrome.  I kept trying other photos, and none of them seemed to allow me to change the photo name or add a description.  I didn't wait long enough.  I had to wait another 20-30 seconds for the memberlist to load.  Nevermind!

Still wondering, though, why we can change the Owner of a Photo, but not the Owner of a File.

I am logged in and have full permissions.  Where are the other choices?

moderated "Override: not moderated" does not work when using moderated hashtags #bug

Marina

My restricted group is set to "Messages that start new topics are moderated".
I have set all my moderators' posting priviliges to "Override: not moderated" (in the Members' List their accounts are shown with a P = Posting alway allowed).
We have a set of mandatory hashtags, two of which (for off-topics and job offers) are moderated.

Now, if my moderators or I start a new topic, according to our posting privilege, our message is not moderated and we can freely post.
However, if we send a message with one of the moderated hashtags, our message is moderated/treated as pending message and we have to approve it.

So, apparently, Posting is not always allowed and the "Override: Not moderated" privilege does not override moderated hashtags.

Thank you for your help.

Hmm, I can change Owner, Name, and Description on a photo.  Owner, Title, and Description on an album.  Seems like you may not have permission as a moderator or aren't logged in as group owner.

moderated Editing Photos has less capability than editing Files #bug

Andy

When editing an uploaded File, we can edit both the File Name and/or the Description.

When editing an uploaded Photo, the only things we can edit are the Owner, or Rotate Left, or Rotate Right.

When editing a photo Album, the only thing we can edit is the Owner.

Why is that?  Why can't we add or modify a Description, or change the Name?

(And speaking of which, why can we change the Owner of Photos but not of Files?)

I could look at it that way if it were ONLY topics that have new replies, but everything on the page gets 'unvisited' when a new reply goes to any group/topic.  This is on the overview page, so there is no Messages view.  I seldom go to individual groups.

Duane,

I think it's because the link changes as additional replies are
received in topics.
Isn't that a feature? That is, if there are replies you haven't seen in that topic wouldn't you want to know that?

Maybe the Messages list would be more to your liking. Caveat: I don't read online so I don't actually know if those links have lost the "visited" feature in some other way.

I use Firefox too and noticed this. I also used it to keep track of what I'd read so far. I thought it may be something to do with a change in the Browser but if the links are changing then perhaps not.

I noticed this in only one group recently. The rest were fine. Could t figure it out.

yesterday: https://beta.groups.io/g/main/topic/86000001?p=%2C%2C%2C50%2C0%2C0%2C0%3A%3Arecentpostdate%2C%2C%2C50%2C2%2C0%2C0%2Cprevid%3D1633132849584885609%2Cnextid%3D1632655263565684928&previd=1633132849584885609&nextid=1632655263565684928&allview=1

today: https://beta.groups.io/g/main/topic/86000001?p=%2C%2C%2C50%2C0%2C0%2C0%3A%3Arecentpostdate%2C%2C%2C50%2C2%2C0%2C0%2Cprevid%3D1633161511845066009%2Cnextid%3D1632687150186165921&previd=1633161511845066009&nextid=1632687150186165921&allview=1

Since the site doesn't keep track of read messages (yet?), I was using it to keep track of where I was.  Now I need to try to remember what time I last checked.  I'm not sure why all the extra info is included now (possibly related to the app?), but if it can be safely removed, that should return things to the way they were.

Thanks,
Duane

moderated Allow downloading photos leaving spaces intact in filenames #suggestion

When a photo has spaces in its filename, and that photo is downloaded from a group, groups.io converts the filename into+a+new+filename+with+plus+signs+instead+of+the+spaces.  I find it a little annoying.  And it is puzzling.

Can the download save it with its original filename, spaces and all?

Thanks,
Andy
