Needs some touch up.

Using the iOS app I clicked Help.  Nothing.

I clicked to reply to a msg on this thread and this popped up:

when sending my last msg, this error popped up:

I don’t know if this is a #suggestion or not, but I’ll try here first.

Something that drives me CRAZY and I suspect others too, is that links ALWAYS open in an app rather that a website (which are typically much more inclusive with features, info, whatever compared to apps.). I’ve uninstalled so many apps like eBay, Lowe’s, etc for that reason.

SO Mark, could the message footers be such that ‘View/reply on the web and ‘use the app’ are options??

Double Whoo Hoo!!

hmmm.   Logging in was a challenge.  There is no 'login with google' button on the app like there is on the web site, so I had to do the 'send me a link' thing.

moderated Re: Error message on trying to attach files #bug

I just heard back some details from the group member. The first time, he was attaching a pdf. The second time, he was inserting a jpeg. Both times, he got an error message and failure with his first try, but he's not sure it was the same error message. And both times, his second try went through without issue..

moderated Error message on trying to attach files #bug

A group member is receiving an error message on trying to attach files to his messages, and then the second time he tries, the attachment goes through and everything is fine. The first try, he gets this error message:

Syntax error: unexpected token < in JSON at position 2

and the file fails to attach, but otherwise the message goes through normally. He then tries again and gets no error message and the message comes through with the attachment. This has happened to him twice within a few days. The first time it was a pdf, and the second time it was a jpeg.

I've already sent details to Mark at support but am posting here in case anyone else wants to add that they've also experienced this.

moderated Site updates #changelog

Changes to the site this week:

September 17, 2021:

  • BUGFIX: Improved parsing of some secureserver.net bounce emails.
  • NEW: We now track bounces of moderator notifications in the Email Delivery History page, specifically: storage limit, pending message, pending subscriber, new subscriber, unsubscription, resubscription, spam unsubscription, new subgroup created.
  • NEW: We now track bounces of +owner messages in the Email Delivery History page.
  • NEW: We now track bounces of replies to messages from the web site separately from posts to subscribers in the Email Delivery History page.
  • INTERNAL: Cleanup of email delivery history processing system.

September 14, 2021:

  • BUGFIX: Fix a race that resulted in concurrent map writes in the sendmessage daemon.
  • NEW: Include the album name in photo search results. Discussion
  • NEW: Display subscription badges on the /membersubgroups/ page. Discussion
  • CHANGE: Only add a claimed pending message activity log entry when editing a pending message or undoing an edit to a pending message. Previously, a log entry was generated for any pending message action. Discussion
  • CHANGE: When viewing the Polls page, polls that have been closed are now displayed with a X instead of a lock icon. Discussion
  • BUGFIX: In calendar .ics files, we were not properly setting the SEQUENCE number, which meant that sometimes changes to a group's calendar would not show up in calendars that were subscribed via the .ics file.

September 13, 2021:

  • BUGFIX: Fixes for encoding bugs that affected pagination throughout the site. Discussion

The next #changelog post will be on September 24th.

Take care everyone.

I just forwarded Mark's announcement to my group. But it strikes me that the info should be made available to all groups. Maybe a banner?

On the Android version, if I ask for a magic login link, clicking on the link I get in my email goes to Chrome and logs me in there. There doesn't seem to be a way to direct it to the app, which is still not logged in.

Best,

Glenn

It was just approved. My guess is that it's a caching issue on their end with their search infrastructure.

Thanks,

moderated Add "Filter" to the filter-funnel buttons #suggestion

Bruce Bowman

Mark et al -- Please consider adding the single word "Filter" to every filtering button. Few people seem to recognize the the funnel icon for what it is. Every other button has a single-word description, and there seems to be little reason for these to be an exception.

If screen real estate is too precious to do this, could we add a tooltip that pops up if you hover on the button?

Thanks for your consideration,
Bruce

K,

This can easily be a per-list setting.

This has headed off of Mark's original topic, if you'd like to see such a feature it would likely be best to start a new #suggestion topic about it.

That's all it takes.
Understood. But that is a very big "all".

It would largely defeat the "group" concept, turning Groups.io into a mere
mail reflector.
So, give folks an option:

1. accept rewritten From: that will throw away original headers (and use ARC,
if that's the way you want to go); a lot of people don't care about
From: anyway, unless they are doing very specific things
2. preserve all original headers and message body and fullfill DMARC
policies of the original sender; most people wouldn't care for that, except
some people who really, REALLY care

This can easily be a per-list setting.
