September 3, 2021:

• INTERNAL: More work on automating Android app releases.
• APP: Submitted new versions of the app to both the Apple and Android stores and am awaiting responses.

September 2, 2021:

• CHANGE: When viewing or editing a database row that contains images, limit the size of the images when viewing them to prevent formatting problems.

September 1, 2021:

• CHANGE: Changed Edit Subject to Topic Properties in the Topics drop down to be more consistent with other pages. Discussion
• API: Added the description parameter to the /addphotos endpoint. Discussion
• BUGFIX: When exporting a member list, don't include the moderator_notes_updated field if it's 0. Have not yet fixed the most_recent_message issue. Discussion

August 31, 2021:

• BUGFIX: Refactored the editor code and fixed a problem with Firefox where an error banner would sometimes briefly show up when exiting the editor page.

August 30, 2021:

• BUGFIX: For all files generated during a group export, convert any of these characters: < > : " / \ | ? * to _. Discussion

August 28, 2021:

• BUGIFX: Convert / characters in photo names to _ when exporting photos.

It was redundant with Topic Properties. I suggested it be removed, or at least renamed to "Edit Topic," which is what it really was. The name "Edit Subect" was misleading, because clicking on it actually allowed fully editing all aspects (properties) of the topic.

Hmm.  I was hoping that messages sent from a banned domain would be rejected because they came from a banned domain.  (Never mind the fact that they also are not a member.)

There seems to be some difference between banning a domain, and banning a specific address in that domain.  If I ban a domain, they just keep sending spam as if nothing happened.  If I ban an address, they seem to notice that their messages bounce because that address was banned, and change to a new address in the same domain.

Just guessing, but maybe he means essentially that spam is in the eye of the beholder? If you direct-add people who don't want to be members, then they perceive all email from the group as spam?

I don't get the once-a-month thing, either, but again just guessing, I think he means that allowing basic groups to use the direct-add feature once per month gives them the chance to try it out and motivates them to upgrade if they like it, while limiting its use maintains the upgrade incentive.

1. Trying to join a group from a banned domain: If a domain is banned, then if someone with that domain tries to join the group, they get a message to the effect that people with that domain can't join the group. (Note that this is different from an individual email address being banned. In that case, the person, if logged in, cannot even see the group's home page - if they try to visit the page, they are confronted with their list of groups and a banner saying "you are not in this group." They can't join via email either, but I'm not sure of the exact message they receive in that case.)

2. Sending messages from a banned domain: If someone can't join a group because their domain is banned, they're not in the group, so messages from them to the group bounce just like messages from any other non-member.

As the subject line says -- what does "Banned Domains" mean?  What happens (if anything) after a domain is banned?

What is the order by which messages are checked, to see if they are OK?

What kind of bounce messages, if any, do senders receive when (a) their address is banned, (b) their domain is banned, (c) they aren't a group member, or (d) anything else?

I realized right afterwards that you would need more detail. And I tried to reproduced it and couldn't (I will try again). I am using Firefox.
To the best of my recollection:

1. I composed a "send message" draft from within a pending message
2. I decided to discard it and hit "discard"
3. I saw the flashing red banner, long enough to read "will try again in n seconds" etc.
4. I saw it again, right before exiting the page

Steps 3 and 4 happened concurrently with my brain's processing the instruction the exit the page. It was all simultaneous. By the time I was actually out of the page, it was all over. I thought immediately afterwards that if I had stayed longer, I might have seen even more banners. As it was, there were only two.

Right after sending the message here about it, I went into my test group and tried to reproduce this, but so far have been unsuccessful.

I'd go with something more rectangular, landscape orientation, to visually suggest a bar.

Perhaps just a bit less tall (matching font baseline to character height?) and just enough wider to be unmistakably not a square. Definitely want to retain enough total area for the colors to remain distinct.

IMO a square is too overused a shape to provide that (subliminal) clue.

Nope, not fixed. I just composed a draft of a message, then deleted it. I got the banner not once but multiple times, flashing and then disappearing.
