Yes, there's a lot more control.  It occurs when the database is created, https://groups.io/helpcenter/membersmanual/1/working-with-databases/creating-a-database-table

Sorry, but this is a slight diversion from the original question.

Shouldn't there be more control over who can do what with Database tables?  For example, "Members can view, moderators can create tables" also allows members (non-moderators) to create and delete entries in a table.  Wow!

Why?  Shouldn't moderators have more control over that?

Must be something I'm missing.... (there usually is)

Mark -- Hm. A new, related bug...or maybe not.

I've made three attempts to export IAS-INDY over the past three days and have never received the email with the download link.

Could you confirm that the email was actually sent to my account at tds.net? Has there been a recent change to that email, such as it's more likely to be diverted on the receiving end?

Meanwhile, I'll make my GMail account a group Owner and try again.

I’ve now unset HTML normalization. IIUC, this should restore formatting to calendar notices. Please LMK if I’m wrong, and I’ll report again if formatting remains stripped.

Thank you, and … formatting was still stripped from a notice sent at 12:00am MDT today June 4, following the change you made …? Am I misunderstanding something?

Subject: [beta] Site updates #changelog

Changes to the site this week:

  • INTERNAL: It was infrastructure week, with a focus on reorganizating the repository, refactoring code, general cleanup, and improving tests.

June 3, 2021:

  • BUGFIX: Fixed export of some files. Discussion
  • CHANGE: Reorder processing in the export group service to hopefully fix a database timeout issue.
  • CHANGE: When doing a JSON import of a table, keep the existing Updated fields on the rows. Discussion
  • BUGFIX: If doing a message search with a poster ID representing a user who is no longer a member of the group, don't return every single message. Discussion
  • CHANGE: When sending a message to a member, if you select a member notice, the activity log entry will now point to that member notice instead of showing the entire message as sent. Discussion
  • BUGFIX: Some system notifications were not treated in a consistent way in that some were not ignoring the Normalize HTML Emails setting, as they had previous to a change on May 27th. Discussion
  • BUGFIX: The chat window was not sizing properly, so that the text entry box was not visible on the screen. Discussion
  • NEW: There's a new Locked Topic Member Notice. If there is an active locked topic member notice, it will be sent to the group when a topic is locked using the Lock Topic dropdown in the Topics page. Also, in the Topic Properties page, when you click the Lock Topic checkbox, a new selector appears allowing you to send a specific locked topic member notice to the group when you lock the topic.

I will be on vacation until Monday, June 7th.

Take care everyone.

Mark

Sorry, I misunderstood.  (I thought you were offering to 'fix' the broken Draft and nothing more.  I waited a day or two, then deleted the Draft.)

The organizer email field is just a simple text field. We don't do anything with it, including linking it with a member or validating that the text entered even looks like an email address.
OK. I'll revert to my original plan then and make the suggestion that if there is a single valid email address in that field and they are a member of the group that they see the Actions button with the various options to contact responders?

Given that the field name is called Organiser Email that's probably what most people type so it could be validated as a single email address.  Based upon their Role, Mods and Owners are already shown the Actions button so perhaps an additional check could also be if the organiser email is a member of the group?  My co-owner and I, and all our subgroup Moderators are trying to make much more use of the RSVP event functionality but currently we have to send messages to responders on behalf of the event organisers. In the medium to long term, especially with more events being created as Covid restrictions ease, that is just not practical.  Our Mods would still plan to add details to the calendars to ensure they match our styles and colour coding for different event types but after that, leave it to the event organisers.

I did indeed refer to it as a bug. I was hoping your draft was still there so I could save some time instead of trying to reproduce it myself.

Mark, I did delete the draft.

But don't you agree that it is a bug that we can't send or open the Draft?

Either it should have sent when I clicked "Send", or I should be able to open it, view its contents, and copy it to a new message.  Did you fix that bug?  Or are you letting it remain?

When I export a database to a JSON and then import it to another database, the "updated" field for every record changes to the date/time of the import. I'd like to be able to move a database from one group to another but retain the original update field date/time information. This is for a database that tracks membership in a neighborhood directory, and the date/time of the last update for each record is important to us.

This should be fixed.

I sent a short message in one of my groups via the web interface.  But I think it did not actually sent.  After clicking "Send", Groups.io immediately brought be to the page that lists all my group subscriptions.

Now, Drafts shows that there is one message in Drafts, which is the one I thought I sent.  But if I click on that message to open it, I get an error, "That message number does not exist."

If you haven't deleted the draft yet, please let me know what group this is, and I'll fix the bug.

I tried it and get the same bug. I think my group was also basic at the time the member left (we upgraded shortly after), and it was around the same timeframe you mention. Maybe has to do with maintaining records for "past members" in premium vs. basic groups?

This should be fixed now.

Anyone can attempt to send a message to a topic that was locked days or months or years ago. If the active member notice has changed in the interim, it most likely bears no relationship at all as to why these older topics were locked (if it still did, why would you change it?).

So I suggest no....unless you can somehow "save" the associated member notice with the topic.

Maybe the person forgot and needs a reminder?

Best,

Glenn
