Yes, There must be a better way.
The existing method to delete a picture ; One at a time , look at the thumbnail pic, click to open, click to delete, click to confirm, is tedious but do-able.

However when there are several pictures to delete, it would be good to be able to select multiple discards and then go through a delete process.
Pehaps an 'are you really sure" process, then the pics are removed from the group page.
Perhaps keep the discards somewhere else for a while, a day, to allow inspection and change of mind, after which the pics are deleted permanently.

OK,
Tony

moderated Checkboxes in emailed photos section for bulk deletion of copies, unwanted pictures #suggestion

In the GMF group, someone mentioned that they had someone using a JPG
file for their signature and in the group's emailed photos section
there were hundreds of that picture there.

I had the same experience recently. After contacting him, the member
switched to a text only signature (there was only text, no image, in
the image signature file anyway) but I had probably 100 or so of those
to go in and delete from the attached pictures folder.

It would seem to make sense to have checkboxes for each picture then a
delete button on the page (bottom or top--doesn't matter) to
facilitate deleting multiple "photos" that are not needed but taking
up space. I believe even Yahoo Groups had such a feature.

I'd like to see this implemented. It has been suggested here before
but no action has been taken on this.

Donald

I ran into a situation today where this feature would be very useful.  In my case, I'd want to just set the expiration date for each member, regardless of how they got into the group.  For our use, we'd only need a month and year, but I can see where an exact day might be needed.

Extra info:  It's for a club where expiration dates vary for each member at the end of a month.  If someone renews, I update for them.  Right now, I use a spreadsheet on my pc, but it would be very handy to have a reminder, and expiration removal if needed, be handled automatically.  Not a major problem though since we've only got about 30 members.

moderated RSVP Event Waitlist Position #misc

Hi Mark,

when you get added to a waitlist for an RSVP event, the following message is displayed at the top of the screen:

However, the Member's manual states your position in the waitlist will be given (my italics & bold):

Note: If the organizer has limited the number of attendees, and:

  • The event is full when you respond that you will attend: You are added to a wait list. A notification, with your position on the wait list, will be displayed at the top of the page.

Either the system or the manual needs updating so that they agree.

Thanks
Andy

Changes to the site this week:

May 7, 2021:

  • BUGFIX: When deleting a subscription (by leaving a group, being removed, etc), we deleted all pending digest messages for the user, even if the messages were in other groups the user was still a member of.

May 6, 2021:

  • CHANGE: More work on making the breadcrumbs behave consistently.

May 5, 2021:

  • BUGFIX: Pagination in database tables was not working for people with infinite scroll preference.
  • CHANGE: More work on making the breadcrumbs behave consistently.
  • CHANGE: The filter on the Members page is now scrollable and height limited, to work better on mobile.

May 4, 2021:

  • DOCS: Updates from Nina.
  • BUGFIX: Fixed issues with /viewevent page when viewing a repeating event: the Pick A Different Date to RSVP selector was never displayed, and we now present the repeating criteria in a more clear and separate way from the single event date.
  • CHANGE: Moved search bar into breadcrumb line in the search results page.
  • APP BUGFIX: Fixed issues with member filtering. Discussion

May 3, 2021:

  • INTERNAL: Switched primary replica database machine to a dedicated CPU instance to see if that fixes the periodic slowdown we were seeing in database responses.
  • CHANGE: Monthly updating of timezone selector.
  • BUGFIX: Fix breadcrumb issues in photo albums, messages, and topics. Discussion

Take care everyone.

It's only a notification.  Another mod can take it over, but only online.

Not just sufficient. Actually better than locking out other moderators, for obvious reasons, including the (pseudo-)problem mentioned upthread.

Well, that's different from claimed pending members. The claiming doesn't prevent any other mod from acting on the member. It's just informative. So either claimed messages are different, or the other mod misunderstood. I don't know.

I assumed that it explicitly prevented another moderator taking action on it. Is "just informative" sufficient?

No, I'm talking about the situation in which an unclaimed message might be claimed by mistake and can not tyen be unclaimed.

In any case, maybe claiming a message should be changed to the same mechanism as for claiming a pending member, namely, you affirmatively click the claim button.

As I have said, I have requested an explicit [Claim] button for messages rather than having to do it as a side-effect of an edit.

Wait, you’re against the feature? I’m just saying that adding a log entry is useful (although not strictly necessary) information, and as with many other logged actions whose information can be also found in other places, would be more consistent if logged too.

I have been watching this topic from the sidelines...  until now. As with Claiming a Message a Pending member can only be Claimed via the website, at which point it is badged accordingly, also indicating who claimed it.

While not opposing the suggestion that a claiming action should be a recorded Activity I would point out that who claimed which Pending Member is most easily found from the Pending Members list; more easily in fact that having to filter the Activity log. Just go the the Pending members list and all current "claims" are visible at the same time.

In any case, I don't see how logging the claiming does anything to solve this problem, although, as I said, I think it might be useful for other reasons.

How could you inadvertently claim a pending message?
I didn't go into detail because I know that Beta is not for lenghty discussions.
Some days ago, I checked (opened) a pending message via web. I though about correcting it, then I changed my mind because it was not my turn to moderate the group and I left it there.
The moderator in charge could do nothing about the nessage because, apparently, it had been claimed by me.
I didn't remember claiming it, so I checked my activity and the group activity, but I found out that claiming is not logged.

Malcom's explanation about the [Edit] + [Cancel] thing has shed some light on the problem, though.

moderated Enable and Disable Notifications options visible at the same time #bug

Hi Mark,

I've raised issues previously about browser notifications and I've been testing with different browsers on my laptop and mobile.  I turned on notifications for the default Samsung Internet browser on my phone but when I went to turn them off I noticed the Enable and Disable options are both visible at the same time which doesn't make sense. The default Samsung Internet browser is listed as Android Chrome:

I haven't tried disabling it yet in order to leave evidence for any investigation.

Regards
Andy

Easily, by accidentally clicking on [Edit]. The way out of the edit is, of course, to click [Cancel] but that leaves the message in a claimed state.

I have already requested a specific [Claim] button in another post ... please?

If [Edit]; [Cancel] continues to claim a pending message, can we also have an [Unclaim] button please?

How could you inadvertently claim a pending message? Can’t you only claim via the website, where the message would be marked as claimed? Just curious. I like the proposed additional feature too, same as i like my originally proposed feature (logging claiming of pending members), but not for that reason.
