Mark is allowed, he owns the site. ;>)

Maybe if the invitation status changed to expired instead of being deleted it would be less of a jolt.  Not sure how much extra work that would be though.  For me, 2 weeks is plenty to deal with invitations.  If they haven't accepted by then, I've found that they probably won't.  If they 'complain', I can always send another.

I think Owners/Moderators need an additional tool to try to communicate with members stuck in NC status. While Premium and Enterprise groups can manualy confirm NC members this is a one by one tedious process.

Having a new Notice Type where you could explain the reason and at the same time include a confirmation link would make this process easier.

Thanks,

I totally dislike this suggestion and that it was implemented without asking any other managers.   I use that list to resend invitations to people because I have found that some people miss the initial invitation.   My group is for a High School Reunion.    I now have to reenter all the email addresses and names of those I invited.

I need to clarify that.  You need to be able to log in to the GIO account associated with that email address, not the actual email account.

If you created a password for the 'old' account, you can log into it and do the merge.  The 'old' address doesn't need to exist, you just need to be able to log into it.  If you don't have, or remember, the password then there's no way to merge.

To my account ?
You may not be able to do what you're asking.  Messages that were imported from YG were assigned to the email address that was used on YG.  If you used a different email address on GIO, they're not related.  There's a chance that you could merge the email addresses into one account if you have access to both, https://groups.io/helpcenter/membersmanual/1/understanding-groups-io-accounts/merging-accounts

Thank Duane. So if the email don't exist now it's impossible to merge?

I haven't tried today, but in the past I was able to send messages that the attendees received, but the other Owner failed, so it is not just permissions.  I can not see any pattern in the email host of the sender or the recipient.

Can you send me off-list the text of one of these messages?

moderated Add 'Sent special message' to Activity Log Actions filter list #suggestion

Hi Mark,

as part of my regular group activity review I look at various metrics and one thing that would be useful to identify quickly (for me at least) is the number of special messages that have been sent. We already have 'Sent message' and 'Sent message requiring approval' filters so 'Sent special message' would not seem to be too much extra.

Thanks

When you reject a message via the website, the rejected message dialog box has a dropdown field where you can select one of the pre-defined Rejected Message member notices as a template for your rejection message.

OK.  So the "Rejected Message" message is sent ONLY when a Moderator manually rejects a message.  Not what I thought.  Thanks.

Nit:  I don't know what " select a Rejected Message notice as the initial text" means.  I don't see that.  Not that it matters.

It could also be the content of the message you're sending.  If it looks/sounds spammy, that could trigger a filter.

I've just sent a message to 98 attendees on an RSVP event and I can't see any indication of failure. Everyone member I've checked the email delivery history for has a successful 'Post To Member' delivery.

The Owner's Manual describes the circumstances when a Rejected Message notice is sent quite clearly.

moderated Meaning of "Rejected Message" #suggestion

Andy

In group Settings, there are a handful of Member Notices that Moderators can create.  There is a Welcome message that I think all groups get by default.  Another one is "Rejected Message", which is said to be the "Message sent when a message is rejected".

What does that mean?

I thought it meant that it is sent whenever an incoming message was rejected.  But not, apparently.

Most rejected messages are ones sent by unsubscribed addresses.  When someone sends a message that is rejected for that reason, they do not receive one of those "Rejected Messages".  Instead, they receive a cryptic reply (which for me implies that Groups.io is "misconfigured", until I read further down).  Everything that I wrote in the "Rejected Message" message is apparently of no use because that message is not sent.

Is the problem that Groups.io fails to send that message when an incoming message was rejected?

Or is that message used only in a subset of cases -- and if so, should the name or its description be changed to reflect the more restricted usage?

Thanks,
Andy

I haven't tried today, but in the past I was able to send messages that the attendees received, but the other Owner failed, so it is not just permissions.  I can not see any pattern in the email host of the sender or the recipient.

Messages that are sent from New Topic, Calendar Invites, and Replies to Attendees all go through.  Just email to attendees fails, which makes me suspect an error in how that message is sent.

When a select a pending membership from the list, the action drop-down
includes a 'claim' action which is great.
However, when viewing pending posts I can see no way to claim it other
than by using [Edit] followed by [Cancel]. Can we have a [Claim] button
please?
Thanks for the tip Malcolm! I understand your idea wasn't intended that way, but I've always gone in and added a space at the end of the subject line. I didn't realize we could just click on Cancel. I agree with your suggestion, but I suspect it's low priority unless something else dealing with pending members needs to be changed.

I was always happy that we finally had a way to claim a pending message. I guess I'm showing my history.

Why? Besides, the convenience factor, I just don't like the idea of sending out an active link via email and have it continue to work forever.

Thanks for your consideration,
Bruce

moderated Re: Log member change of display name when done in the account #suggestion

So unless your member's display name had already been changed in the group, the situation doesn't apply.

I'm wondering whether the bug involves who did the original change, a mod or the member. In the bug I am reporting, it was a mod (me) who originally changed the member's display name in the group - not the member herself. So maybe the exception needs to take into account both cases.

The bug is that is that IF the display name has already been changed in the group (not sure whether it had been in your test), an account display name change, as Duane has pointed out, should not even take place in a group.

And in my group, both (a) the change did take place, and (b) was NOT logged in the group.
