Marvin, If you and your friend truly have changed/have good intentions now, then I suggest you move on to other groups or start your own. It seems to me you've probably burned your bridges at the groups you're discussing, so I would just take that as a lesson learned, let go and try not to make the same mistakes on whatever groups you both join going forward. Most good owners/moderators who want continuity for their groups have probably already elevated to moderator status one or two other group members they trust to keep the group on track. Trish

Oh, please. I know that tech list, you're on about. The rules were sent out 3 times. I'm really skeptical, whether you have seen it or not. I'm very doubtful that you have missed it all 3 times. I think I also know the admins, and they do a good job, so I'm not sure where and when they have called you a loser. And, that friend of yours. I'm afraid I have seen him in action. He may have changed, but what he has done, people will find it very hard to forgive. Oh, your moderator question. That is exactly why lists have as much as 3 admins, to make sure that everything is as it should be. Its almost impossible for all 3 to be busy, ill, or whatever. PS. While yahoogroups is no longer accessible, you could begin your group elsewhere. There are quite a few options out there, you know. Sent from the BrailleNote

Okay, well my friend got banned, not sure why. Has tried to talk to the owners and mods, but don't think they want to hear from him. A few years ago, he was threatening on e-mail, and he was not in a good head space, mentally. No excuse. But he has changed, has got better medical help, and is a changed person. So. People cannot forget or forgive him for the past, and he has changed. I have seen it firsthand. And okay, I got banned from one tech list, because, I forwarded a tech article, did not get the rules e-mailed to me, could not find the rules on the group site, and also the second time either forgot I had done it the first time, or maybe some one might have hacked my account, not sure what ever. But it was my fault, stupid me. The other reason I got banned from a second group, was posting for a non member, thought I was helping him out. So, I have tried to talk to the mods or the owners, they do not like me and they have a beef with me. And also got banned from another group, because I said I would feel I could make a better mods or owner. Have had my own yahoo groups a few years ago, when yahoo groups was more accessible, then today. And so I did not mean to upset the mod and never meant to do that or to upset the person on purpose. Never my intention. Was just speaking my piece, as we have some beefs, and that mod called me a nutter, a loser, a scumbag. You do not treat your members that way, swear at them, dennegrate them, or make them feel bad. Was hurt by their comments. So. I was wanting to get back on that group. So, what happens if the mods, do not have good communications skills? And treat the members, or former members like I have had, via private e-mails. No way to treat me like dirt, or I do not belong. Was very hurt, but did not retaliate as a mature person. I have said and done some stupid things a few years ago, I regret doing or saying things. So, what happens, if say for one reason or another, the owners or the mods, cannot run the group, for one reason or another? Emotional, mental breakdown, physical impairments, family, not enough time, time poor, or if they are ill, sick, incapacitated,or die. So, maybe there should be other moderators, to step into their shoes. pity, there is no place for wrong or grievous disputes between members, owners, mods. And pity no policy for reporting abuse, disputes, etc. What do you think? Please be civil, do not bash me for the sake of bashing. That's my two cents worth. Marvin.

We had trouble parsing the EXIF data for those photos, and we didn't handle that error, which screwed everything up. We now parse the data correctly and handle errors as well. My suggestion is to delete that album and recreate it. Sorry about the bug! Thanks, Mark

From: Feathered Leader <featheredleader@att.net To: beta@groups.io Date sent: Thu, 14 May 2015 11:28:21 -0700 Subject: [beta] Re: owners and moderators I am way behind reading in here, so I apologize for that. But I saw this topic and had to weigh in. Marvin, banning is absolutely necessary for group owners and moderators to have sole control of. If not, like Trish and others have pointed out, people who are bent on causing trouble, hurting others, or even just spammers would be uncontrollable. Think of this as an example. If there was a support group about women who had been sexually abused and a known sexual abuser joined it, how would they stop him from harassing them or finding ways to get at them if they weren't banned. Or if there was a support group for gays and lesbians, and a gay hater joined it, they would be forced to be subject to cruel and hurtful behavior if the group couldn't ban them. If your friend has a problem with the owners of the group, he needs to write them and ask ask them if he is indeed banned, why he is banned, what the problem is, and if it could be solved another way. If they are determined not to let him in, he isn't going to get in, sorry. It's no different really than businesses who have the right to refuse service to anyone. It's only the owners and moderators who have that power to ban and unban. And I agree with Vickie, I would want no part of any service that ever gave that power to the invididual member. I had an ex-fiance who stalked me both online and off for awhile, and that would be another dangerous scenario that could come about, someone bent on following someone they had a grudge against, and use that knowledge to hurt them. Nope. BAD idea. Mark, don't even consider it. Thanks, Brenda Nightowl >8# Owner/Moderator of Mods & Members
