Hi Donald,

The only "to field" I can find is as per my sample which was From: Str8 Creative <supportaaeja@...>
To: <knit4charities@groups.io>
and
From: Josias Melo ANPG <support@...>
To: knit4charities@knit4charities.groups.io

So I guess in answer to your question they are being sent directly to our group address.

At risk of making a fool of myself, I think I have spotted it as a bug in https://groups.io/js/displaytime-0.2.6.js

function DisplayEventTime(t, tzstr, dateFormat, timeFormat) {
    if (t == 0) {
        return '';
    }
    if (typeof tzstr === 'undefined' || tzstr == '') {
        tzstr = '';
        momentDay = moment(t);
    } else {
        momentDay = moment(t).tz(tzstr);
<snip>
should, I suspect, have that last line before the snip as                  momentDay = moment.tz(t,tzstr)
- that's what the matching line looks like in the other, similar functions in that file.

Maybe ..? Or maybe I am way off.

Malcolm.

Sometime back, Mark tried using a spam filter for the site, but as with most others, it wasn't very accurate, giving false results for both positive and negative.

Oops. Not the first time, either.

It would be nice if the Discard button was on the opposite side of the page instead of immediately adjacent to Send.
PLEASE? Same just happened to me.

It might well be, but I would still like to know exactly what the OP is asking for. In the ansence of that let me provide this example.

(a) If a moderator is looking at a suspect message using the group's web UI then what they are viewing is the actual message from the poster.

(b) If a moderator is looking at the same suspect message from a notification email then what they are looking at is NOT the original message; it has been processed by Groups.io (in a wrapper I daresay) and is actually from Groups.io.

In the case of (a) then a "spam" tab could be used to inform Groups.io that the sender is a suspected spammer. In the case of (b) then an attempt to have the email labelled as spam could easily accuse Groups.io of spamming, not the originator of the message that groups.io has simply wrapped up and passed on. That action could have disastrous consequences.

It is a case of Be careful what you ask for, in case you get it.

It looks like the request is for spam filtering from groups.io, so that obviously-spam messages would be auto-rejected, not requiring moderator action. Then if you want your group to allow messages from non-members (but moderated), it would be less work for the moderator to reject all the spam messages coming in.

The downside is that a legitimate message might be incorrectly marked as spam, the same problem regular email systems have. It would have to be thought out if this is OK, or if there's a way to make it easier for a moderator to mass-reject a ton of spam messages.

I previously posted in managers forum and here. Ours off by an hour in feed. Arizona time. Which does not observe daylight savings time.

I wonder whether there is a link between my observed effect and the first bugfix listed in Mark's 5th September changelist: https://beta.groups.io/g/main/message/26156

To what end, exactly? I assume that you do not allow these messages to pass moderation (why would you?) so who would you want or expect to see that they had been marked as spam?

If  Donald Hellen's post doesn't make sense, check your spam folder. At least in my case, Pamela Tatt's original post on this topic was flagged by Outlook360 and placed in the "Junk" folder due to the examples she included. --cg

Are these addressed to the group or the group owner email address?
(You didn't include the "to:" field in your examples.)

The answer to that will help the group provide some help.

Forgive me if this has already been discussed.
I am getting a lot of unwanted messages (see below) every day in both my main group and subgroups.
My groups moderate all messages from non members.

Would it be possible to have an option to mark such messages as Spam at the point of moderation similar to being able to Reject or Delete a message?

Thanks for your consideration,
Pamela

Further to my suggestion for making the poll results more readable:

An additional horizontal scroll bar at the top of the display (of the "See Who Responded" table sorted by Answer) would allow users to at least scroll the table while viewing the Answer headers.

Currently one is limited to the horizontal scroll on the bottom of the table, which is ok for scrolling through the Results footers at the bottom of columns, but the Answer column headers at the top are off-screen if there are more than a handful respondents.

FYI- our group's poll involves US states and Canadian provinces/territories-- over 60 "Answers" and dozens of respondents, necessitating more usable scrolling.

It would be helpful if the Answers headers at the top could be repeated at the bottom of the columns above the Results; likewise the Results footers at the bottom of columns repeated at the top under the Answers headers.

moderated #bug event times in /feed are all 8 hours out #bug

Malcolm Austen

I think I have covered all possible option settings and searched adequately for past [beta] reports ...

Events show in the calendar display just fine but in the /feed display, they all show eight hours too early.

If I shift my timezone setting a few hours, the /feed display of events also shifts by those same few hours so it's not that they ignore the timezone settings.

I can't help feeling that it is significant that GIO-home-base is eight hours off from UTC, so maybe that part of the display code is adjusting the display correctly, but basing it on GIO-home-time rather than UTC.

I dare say there are other plausible explanations of this /feed display offset!

Does anyone else see their events listed with this offest? Indeed, does anyone see their events listed at the correct time?

This has been raised in [GMF], I'm trying to assist Christine in getting to the bottom of this puzzle. The messages there do suggest that this offset does not occur for everyone:

Thanks for any assistance - and apologies if I am missing something obvious!

Malcolm.

Interesting. For me, it only happens when I use "send message" from within a pending message. That's why I hadn't seen it often (or even before). It does not happen when I simply go to the member page and use the "send message" function.

Here's the URL:
https://groups.io/g/CatladysTestGroup/posttosub?id=87432&subject=Re:+test

The subect is the subect of the pending message ("test").

exact steps I used:
1. click on member
2. select Send Message at the bottom
3. enter Subject
4. click Send To Member - get error message "You must include a message."
4a. If I then type in a message, the error remains showing.
5. click Discard - clears Subject and error message, but can't use Discard, can go to any screen and it's not saved as a Draft

Hi Duane,

Sorry for the late reply.

A situation has come up that we'd like some clarification on.  A group owner (OwnerA) passed away, so another owner (OwnerB) is in charge.  OwnerA had paid for the year to get the transfer done.  We're trying to figure out how to be sure that the card for OwnerA won't be charged for a renewal since the group plans to drop back to Basic.

OwnerB has deleted OwnerA from the group
OwnerB has entered a credit card so he can see the View/Change Plan button to, hopefully, change the plan to Basic

Unanswered questions:
Can a non-mod/owner account be charged for a renewal? (If OwnerA had only been changed to member)

Yes. They cannot set themselves as payor, but once they are the payor, that doesn't specifically change when they leave/are removed/mod privileges are removed.

Can there be more than one payor for a group?

 No.

Why does an owner/mod need to enter a CC in order to view/change plans?

I don't think they need to. I mean, they shouldn't, and I wasn't able to reproduce this just now in my dev environment.

Thanks,
Mark
