Re: "message to member" page persists in displaying "you must include a message" error message
#bug
Hi, Which URL are we talking about? Is it the /posttosub URL? I'm trying to reproduce this and can't. Thanks, Mark

Database date fields display "00:00" with search
#bug
We have noticed what looks like a bug when using the search function on a database:
We store a time field in our database, it's in 24hr format, e.g. "18:50", these fields display normally when we look at the rows, we can sort the data by clicking on the column headers etc, all good so far. However, if we do a search to filter the records all the time fields appear as "00:00". This seems like a bug, would someone be able to look at this please? Thanks, Chris

"message to member" page persists in displaying "you must include a message" error message
#bug
Even when you have already typed text into the message box, the error message "you must include a message" in red continues to display when you're sending a message to a member. This was disconcerting and for awhile, I kept retyping the message, thinking it somehow had not registered. Seems like a simple fix and would relieve some anxiety.

We are having the same problem with thumbnails from albums of more than one page. As Chris Jones stated, if you flip through the individual pages on an album, the correct photos show up. This affects all the collector study groups that I own and belong to.

Photo albums, can't jump to 2nd or subsequent pages
#bug
In photo album with more than 20 photos, when I try to jump to the second (or any other) page of thumbnails, I always end up at the first page of the emailed photo album. (This is also true for the emailed photo album itself, clicking on the "Next" or a page number button brings me to the top of the emailed photos album. I have tried this in a couple of different groups, using different browers (and also cleared cache etc.) It seems very repeatable.

Update the favicon
#suggestion
The envelope icon appears to generated with blue lines and "transparent" instead of white for the fill. (Favicons support transparency.) The area outside the envelope should be transparent, but the area inside the envelope should be white. As currently designed, it's invisible with schemes with black or blue tabs. (Unfortunately, the default tabs in Windows 10 with Chrome browser, a popular combination, are a blue that's almost the same as the favicon blue, making it nearly invisible.)
This picture shows the problem and also shows how well white would work. See the Give.org, Google, Amazon, and ecobee tabs. Larry

Polls table readability
#suggestion
Drew
Referring to the "See Who Responded" table (sorted by Answer): For polls that have a lot of answers and a lot of respondents it is difficult to keep track of particular columns while scrolling to the bottom in order to read their Results footers. It would be helpful if the Answers headers at the top could be repeated at the bottom of the columns above the Results; likewise the Results footers at the bottom of columns repeated at the top under the Answers headers.

Re: Email Address change
#suggestion
Mark,
I just added a confirmation dialog when changing your email address.I think the confirmation dialog should test the address. That is, send a confirmation message to the address and display the SMTP result - success or failure. I'd go further and keep the Yes button disabled until there is a success code. The intent is to head off the confusion that occurs when the member makes a typo in the address. There are some complications, of course. One is the round-trip time for the SMTP response. So perhaps there should be an activity indicator showing that Groups.io is testing the address. Maybe there should be a third button that the user can use to confirm the address despite the lack of response (maybe even in the face of a failure response). I'm not exactly sure why a user would ever click the "confirm anyway" button. Perhaps they know the address isn't ready for use yet but will be, or perhaps they know the address engages in greylisting or other spam-control protocol that interferes with the test. Of course, to me that would be a red-flag but I'm not going to rule out the possibility that the user actually does know what they're doing. And also there is the false-positive problem: it /has/ happened to me that a typo in a Direct Add address was a good address belonging to someone else entirely. One could go the further step of requiring that the user verify receipt of the test message. Perhaps using a confirmation code in that message to by typed into a box in this dialog. I'm not sure I want to force that level of functionality at this point, but it may not be an unreasonable requirement and would head off the typo that is someone else's address case. Shal

Allow subscribers to email poll respondents
#suggestion
Drew
Unless I have missed it, only owners (and poll authors?) can conveniently email poll respondents. It would be very useful if we had the ability to allow subscribers to do the same; i.e., any subscriber viewing the poll results would be able to email the respondents of a particular answer category. This would probably need to be a group option setting as well as an option setting for the individual polls set by the authors.

I have had a look at your group Home Page and the photo in honour of a recently departed colleague is consistent with this post on your group timed at 1538 (UK time), while your query here on beta (for future reference the Group Managers Forum might have been a better place to start) was posted at 1619. (GMT again!) On the face of it you did click on Set Cover Photo; at the moment the only thing I can think of if you couldn't see it yourself was that you were looking at a cached page that a browser refresh would have updated. Clarification requested! Chris

I can't seem to be able to change the cover photo on my group: https://groups.io/g/o14/coverphoto
I have tried a jpeg and png - the size is 681x489. I am allowed to select the file to upload and it changes the displayed file name but doesn't update the displayed photo. I've tried on both Chrome and Safari. There are no console error messages shown under dev tools. John

wrong navigation from past members list (goes back to members list)
#bug
After doing something in a past member's record and saving, you're taken not back to the past members list but to the members list. So to go back into the record you have to manually navigate to the past members list again.
