If yes, that could explain it, the db deletion process cleaned everything but not the "embedded" (linked) images, probably stored at the same place uploaded wiki images go to, and this is a bug after all. Re: Member Directory Search fails if member name is an email address
#bug
The [partial] email address is displayed to other members in the Directory only if the Display Name field is unpopulated.
It would make sense to me to force people to put something in Display Name before they can share their group profile. This will provide something to search on, and if they want to remain anonymous they can still put Captain Beefheart or Howdy Doody or something like that in there. Just a thought, Bruce

I agree that the email address should not be visible.
However, it seems that search should match the fragment that's displayed in the member directory, which *is* visible to anyone. In this case: 'tcs'.

Send and Discard buttons too close together

Mark -- Just got done composing a fairly lengthy message, and went to click the Send button...but I fat-fingered it and hit Discard instead.
Oops. Not the first time, either. It would be nice if the Discard button was on the opposite side of the page instead of immediately adjacent to Send. Thanks for your consideration, Bruce

To be fair to Mark, I don't ever recall a bug taking more than a week or so to be squashed, even the more complicated ones. In some cases, if we had included more details, it would have been resolved sooner, but there are so many options for each account and group that it's easy to overlook one. The lag is more for suggested features that are implemented as time allows, based on usefulness. Duane

Shal & MKRamadoss, Thanks for your replies. This particular group has multiple owners, I learned long ago from being in GMF Yahoo that you never have only one owner. My concern is to Prepay the charge so that it doesn't get overlooked or become a burden. We don't use that much storage yet the ability to add people who make mistakes or some of the other benefits have been very helpful to me. I was hoping to get Mark to respond and let us know if this is possible. If not, I'll pursue other remedies. Take care, Paul, Ohio, USA

This brings up the whole issue of an e-will. What do you do with all your online accounts, where to store the passwords, etc? I got so far as setting up a will and trust for my cats, but the "how to do your e-will" page is still sitting around in a box. I know I need to do it.

I did this with a certain group owner.

Only after I had pleaded with him to do so and only when he got wind his heart was giving out and he was dying. After he was gone, I set up a 3 person ownership, with owners 500 miles apart, just in case there were any coincidences. (This was back in the days of yahoo about 2 years ago.) BTW, after someone is gone, how do you convince the system admins the only owner is dead? The group may disappear after the bill isn't paid, but the free groups will go on forever (perhaps with no new members being added, those with a moderator to add new members would last longer). On the other side of the coin, linkedin "suggests" periodically to me to connect with those I've know been dead for years. Apparently their accounts never die.

Since the surgery seems to be serious, does your group have additional owners? If not I would make one or more members as owners. Also if you want to make sure the group subscription is funded for five years, you can add an addendum to you will setting aside a sum of money. MKRamadoss

Paul,
I'm about to undergo some serious surgery and would like to prepay forI support this suggestion, as several people have asked about it for various reasons. That said, since you're a GMF member I'm sure you know that the best way to ensure the continuation of the group is to promote someone else to the Owner role. Then if the worst happens the other owner can make the next year's payment. The other option is to give a moderator the "Billing" permission, but in the long run that's not as helpful to the group as having one or more active owners. But if you want to discuss such options, probably better to do so in GMF than here. Shal Best of luck and prayers for your surgery.

Bruce,
I'm not seeing this in my test group. With both checked, I get a plainMy own test confirms your results. I could swear I had tested this combination in the past, but maybe I confused myself. Or maybe it has changed and I didn't notice or don't remember. Given that result I agree that making it a set of radio buttons would be clearer. I'll side with Andy in favor of graying out the Normalize checkbox if Plain Text is selected, rather than hiding it. Shal

More follow-up...
If I choose to put the footer in a separate mime part (along with checking both checkboxes), I still get the plain-text footer per the "Plain Text Only" setting. But if I send an html email to the group, the message body itself comes through intact as html (along with plain text, in separate mime parts). Even more bizarre, the online message editor only provides plain-text...there is no option to send an html message via the web interface. This is all counter-intuitive to me, and I'm inclined to relabel my #suggestion as a #bug. Regards, Bruce

Having these two both checked is actually a useful configuration, and I've advised group mods to set them both in the past. That's not what the docs say: Plain Text Only
Select this checkbox to convert HTML-formatted messages that are emailed to the group to plain text format. This setting affects the format of message footers as well. I believe the details are that the text/plain mime part of the incoming message is used (or a conversion from the text/HTML if no text/plain part), and then the outgoing message is formatted with both text/plain and text/HTML, containing unformatted message body but in the text/HTML a formatted footer instead of a plain text one.I'm not seeing this in my test group. With both checked, I get a plain text message with a plain text footer...no html to be found. Regards, Bruce
