Hello, I've added an invisible <hr> tag between messages in the Topic view. Please let me know if this works for you. Thanks, Mark

Folder Notification - Add full path

Beth Weld
My group has lots of documents spanning years. I try to manage that in the Files section by creating folders that contain folders that contain folders.
The file notification shows the full path of where the file is uploaded, but the new folder added notification doesn't. It would be very helpful if all folder notifications contained the full path so that we can easily find them. Thanks Beth

How about making ‘Other members of your group’ the default setting in Profile Privacy?

This would help the vast majority to be able to contact a fellow member and assist in keeping the Directory up to speed.

I second this. I'd personally opt for the HTML tag, myself. If the messages are going to have headings between them, I feel it would take too long to navigate, navigating by heading. Unless each heading is a heading level 2, and the body is not part of that heading. The subject could be heading 2. I still like the HTML tag more though. Write to support@groups.io as well. I suggested this change a while back, but not the HTML tag.

Message separator to improve orientation using a screen-reader

Jan Hegr (OK1TE)
Hello,
although the service is pretty accessible for the blind, thank you, I'd really appreciate some separator between messages when I view a post thread to be able to quickly skip from a message to another using a screen-reader. This could be achieved either by <hr> HTML tag or treat the start of the message as a heading. I believe both approaches can be styled not to break current visual design, but it would help a lot the blind users to navigate the post threads. Thank you very much, Jan

Re: #suggestion RSVP Adult Child separate

Bob Bellizzi
While I understand the suggestion, it could lead to even more requests for further differentiation, viz: the age line for "kids", younger than 16 or through 16, the gender claimed or other personal selective identity. This could even vary depending on the geography, the family or any one of several factors.
And, what about "almost adults". In many families there is a period where that classification is used at mixed parties of gatherings wheree they might be allowed a wine fizz, under supervision. (Italian Immigrant families often allow middle teend a little wine with a lot of soda pop during family get togethers It seems to me that these classifications should be handled outside the RSVP via email or message to the responsible person. -- Bob Bellizzi

Why not ask members to specify two numbers: 1. Number of kids attending 2. Number of other family member attending. Mahendra Bakshi.

Photo Auditing: Misleading "updated photo" owner/mod notification
#bug
When a member clicks on "Edit" a photo of his, or a mod does the same on any photo, if the "Update" button gets clicked on, the mods get an audit "[groupname] Photo xxx.xxx updated" notification email:
Notification subject:
[<group_name>] Photo <file_name> updated
Notification body text:
The following photos have been updated in the <album_name> album of the <group_name>@groups.io group.
<file_name>
By: <group_member>
In addition, an entry is posted in the Activity log:
<group_member> edited photo <file_name> via web
The issue is that the notification (& log entry) is generated & sent even if nothing was changed (i.e. one just clicked on "Update" without changing anything), or if the image itself wasn't changed but something ancillary was, i.e. if the image was selected as the "Cover Photo" and that was all that changed; the auditing code behind the "Update" button doesn't really check if anything was indeed changed, it just assumes something was changed because the Update button was pressed. While it's obviously good to know if someone is messing around with the Photos, the notification can be misleading because it implies the image itself was modified, which can lead a mod into a wild chase to try and find what someone did, especially if the notification was about specific group photos that shouldn't be messed with.
Cheers,
Christos

Re: #suggestion RSVP Adult Child separate

I agree! We host many events that are for kids only, parents seem to struggle with how to respond to account for the correct amount of children. For instance, we may host a kids-only class with a maximum number of attendees, but parents will signing up two kids will inadvertently RSVP for themselves plus two more, when they just need to do a plus 1. It throws off the count.

A plain-text email cannot include a hyperlink, pretty much by definition; and the Message Footer field in settings has no provision to insert anything as html. I still think it's something on the receiving end, probably your email client. If you tell us what client you're using (preferably in GMF), we might be able to tell you how to turn it off. Sounds normal BUT possibly you changed your email client, or your email supplied did or you changed something at your end that made it happen.

If I add a Message Footer like this:
line 1 - https://my.web.site line 2 - https://your.web.site It show up properly html encoded in the html copy of every message. But it also shows up html encoded in the text copy of every message. It used to show up just fine but this broke a bit ago. Unfortunately I don't remember when. I tried going to Admin->Settings and hit the Update Group, but that didn't fix it. I then tried going to Admin->Settings, made some minor changes to the Message Footer and hit the Update Group, but that also didn't fit it. Andrew Partan

Being able to have RSVPs separate for adult/children would be helpful. The current count is nice as it gives me the number of families attending, but having adult/child counts would be nice.
Thanks.

Mark -- The Basic plan features, as shown on this page, erroneously suggest that subgroups are available to free groups.
This is true even for those groups that were started after January 15. See provided screenshot. FYI, Bruce

When changing the reply to setting of a topic, we now record the new setting in the activity log (assuming it's different from the group).I was going to suggest that it log an entry even when it's not different from the group (i.e., when you change it back to the group setting from something else that it was previously changed to). But when I tested this, I found it does indeed create a log entry when you change it back. However, it does not give the specifics in that case. In other words: when I change a topic's reply-to to something other than the group's, it says "changed reply to setting to xyz." But when I change it back to the group setting, it just says "changed reply to setting." I would suggest including what it was changed to, even in the case where it's just being changed back to the group setting. The information is not strictly necessary if the user knows that the lack of what it was changed to means it was changed back to the group setting. But why make them wonder? -- J Messages are the sole opinion of the author, especially the fishy ones.
