Re: #suggestion RSVP Adult Child separate
#suggestion
I agree! We host many events that are for kids only, parents seem to struggle with how to respond to account for the correct amount of children. For instance, we may host a kids-only class with a maximum number of attendees, but parents will signing up two kids will inadvertently RSVP for themselves plus two more, when they just need to do a plus 1. It throws off the count.

A plain-text email cannot include a hyperlink, pretty much by definition; and the Message Footer field in settings has no provision to insert anything as html. I still think it's something on the receiving end, probably your email client. If you tell us what client you're using (preferably in GMF), we might be able to tell you how to turn it off. Sounds normal BUT possibly you changed your email client, or your email supplied did or you changed something at your end that made it happen.
But as Duane says, it sounds normal. -- Bob Bellizzi

If I add a Message Footer like this:
line 1 - https://my.web.site line 2 - https://your.web.site It show up properly html encoded in the html copy of every message. But it also shows up html encoded in the text copy of every message. It used to show up just fine but this broke a bit ago. Unfortunately I don't remember when. I tried going to Admin->Settings and hit the Update Group, but that didn't fix it. I then tried going to Admin->Settings, made some minor changes to the Message Footer and hit the Update Group, but that also didn't fit it. Andrew Partan

#suggestion RSVP Adult Child separate

Being able to have RSVPs separate for adult/children would be helpful. The current count is nice as it gives me the number of families attending, but having adult/child counts would be nice.
Thanks.

Mark -- The Basic plan features, as shown on this page, erroneously suggest that subgroups are available to free groups.
This is true even for those groups that were started after January 15. See provided screenshot. FYI, Bruce

But when I tested this, I found it does indeed create a log entry when you change it back. However, it does not give the specifics in that case. In other words: when I change a topic's reply-to to something other than the group's, it says "changed reply to setting to xyz." But when I change it back to the group setting, it just says "changed reply to setting." I would suggest including what it was changed to, even in the case where it's just being changed back to the group setting. The information is not strictly necessary if the user knows that the lack of what it was changed to means it was changed back to the group setting. But why make them wonder? -- J Messages are the sole opinion of the author, especially the fishy ones.

Drew -- If you allow (or maybe even force) html messages and do not click the "remove other reply options" box in settings there should be a "Reply to Sender" link in the message footer. Hi Bruce. No, there is no Reply To Sender footer link in received plaintext message posts (only View/Reply Online; Mute This Topic; Group Owner; Unsubscribe.) Why is it again that you are unable to take advantage of this? Right now it seems like you're asking Mark to do something to overcome a self-imposed limitation. Not trying to be snarky but I guess I just don't get it yet. We would like our email subscribers to have an easy & convenient way to choose between replying either to the group, or to the sender alone. Currently, in order to reply to sender alone one of the following methods must be used: Method 1: Edit the To/From headers (the exact procedure varies with email client, complicating guidance to our several thousand users). Method 2: - Click "View/Reply Online" footer link; - Click Reply; - Click Private; - Click Quote. These methods are complicated enough to discourage adoption among subscribers, even with continued reminders and instruction. (Typically moderator involvement with this issue requires determining one subscriber's email address and providing it to another with the suggestion that they contact off-list; obviously, not an efficient use of moderators' time.) A group that chooses to select the proposed List-Post option setting would have a List-Post header inserted into all group message traffic, for example: list-post: <mailto:YOUR_GROUP@groups.io> The list-post header has the effect of making available to email subscribers in their mail client a one-click option for replying to the group or replying privately to the sender alone. (At least in the very popular Thunderbird mail software; I assume similar convenience in other applications.) The List-Post header was adopted briefly system-wide in the past in Groups.io but was removed due to complaints, details I don't recall. I am requesting an optional group-specific setting for those groups who choose to use it. Drew Regards,

I would comment that all email messages already contain the email
address of the poster in the 'FROM' field althouth they are munged in many cases for DMARC purposes but it is hardly that complicated to de-munge them. I have been doing that for years. Drew
That will not work for us. We would like to have both options available to individual subscribers: most replies will go to the group by default; less often individuals will want to go off-list.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
For example: items for sale or trade are sometimes posted to the entire group; there may be followup inquiries or comments about the items from other subscribers, also of interest to the entire group. But occasionally someone will want to make particular arrangements for the sale or trade, shipping, payment, etc that should be taken off-list. The current limitations are very inconvenient for this purpose. There are also other occasions, non topic specific, that it would be preferable for subscribers to have a simple way to go off-list. 73, Drew AF2Z

A simple solution is a one-liner below the billing info, to the effect that “Your billing info, if entered, will be used for any groups you create that require payment, and for donations you elect to make to any of your groups that are enabled to ask for donations. You can change or remove it at any time.”That idea seems like a good, pragmatic solution. It does not involve a lot of heavy lifting and would definitely help minimize confusion. -chuck
