Re: Turn off Credit Card tab

“If Donations are not enabled” for what, exactly? Are you saying groups.io should daily monitor whether any of the user’s groups have Donstuins enabled, and toggle the enablement of their credit back and forth accordingly, depending on their groups? People here are addressing this issue as if “Donations enabled” applied to a user (it doesn’t), or as if the user is only in one group. Doesn’t make sense because the former is not correct and the latter probably is usually not.

it does not make sense for members to be able to enter a credit card in their account info if they are not owners or if Donations are not enabled. But it doesn't hurt anything either. It could be a nightmare, IMO, to keep track of whether any group a person belongs to has Donations enabled at any given time since they can be turned on and off as needed. People can also join and leave groups as often as they want. Having the card info already entered would make it easier for someone that creates a group and decides to upgrade. The new manuals in the Help Center certainly make finding things a lot easier than they used to be, but unfortunately many people don't read them. Having unused/unavailable options disabled/grayed would be useful in this respect. Duane

I agree with Mark. People learn where things are, even if they are not enabled. "Now, where did I see that option?" and an ensuing search through the GUI to try to find the option, only to find out that the 'mode' you were in didn't show it. This is why User Interface guidelines prefer that items be disabled (grayed out) instead of removed.

On the contrary — it does not make sense for members to be able to enter a credit card in their account info if they are not owners or if Donations are not enabled.

Agree. By “turn off” I meant disable — not remove.

Okay, I just checked my settings. Mine is set to (reply to) Sender. If I understand correctly, my messages will stay the same they were and are not set to what you described below...correct? (Because what is mentioned below is something I definitely DO NOT want.) I just want to be sure.
Thanks!!!

(Resending this to fix the formatting).
I've just pushed a new group, topic and hashtag
reply to setting, reply to topic followers only . Here's how it works:
This is a
reply to setting, so if the group is set to that, it will apply to all topics. If a hashtag is set to it, it will only apply to topics with that hashtag. Also, you can take an existing topic and change the reply to to this new setting. When you do that, the system will create follow topic records for everyone that has participated in that topic up to that point. What does all this mean? It's now easier to have semi-private topics within your group; where only participants see the topic, but where the messages still get archived. You can also take an existing, active topic and
hide it from the larger group. Please let me know if you have questions.
Thanks,
Mark

Can people still follow the topic without responding to it, by actively selecting to follow it? And can people who've responded to it (and therefore automatically follow it) elect to unfollow it later?

Could the list at least be ordered such that the features that _are_ enabled are all at the top? When many things are disabled, there will be long jumps between active elements in the list. paul =---------------------- paul fox, pgf@foxharp.boston.ma.us (arlington, ma, where it's 66.0 degrees)

This is great! When will this be deployed for everybody because this is super great. Reason I'm asking is I'm not seeing it in my group settings, under reply options.

And it looks like I just uncovered a (completely unrelated) bug having to do with editing a pending message that was originally composed in Markdown causing the resulting message to be improperly HTML encoded. So I'll be fixing that. :-) Mark

Event RSVP Activity Log
#done
#suggestion
Hi,
starting to use the Event RSVP a lot for the next quarter with a lot of new users and we are running into some hiccups that I think could be addressed by including information in the Activity Log. First problem was people getting RSVPs rejected due to the Event being locked. When I looked at the Event (a day later) it was not locked, but Locking an Event is not logged in the Activity log, so I can not tell if it was actually locked and unlocked, or who locked it. Second was the organizer sent out an email to the Attendees and no one got it. This 'message' is also not logged in the Activity Log as a message so once again I can not tell if it was actually submitted or not. It would make trouble shooting my new users activity easier if these were logged. Thanks, Charlie P.S. there is a bug in RSVP - when I click on View Responses it tells me how many people are attending etc. It also says I am attending on every event even though I have not responded. If I respond Will Not Attend it is correct.
