Re: option to set maximum attendees for calendar events
Has there been any move toward allowing moderators and owners the ability to manage RSVPs and waitlist? Our group is trying to figure out ways to better manage our events, especially the dreaded no-shows. With all the public & private group size restrictions in place, it has become a much more pressing issue than ever before. We really need the ability to change a member's RSVP as necessary and manage our waitlist.
Thank you so much for your consideration in this matter. :)

J, Duane, Thanks for the thoughtful suggestions. I've changed the first paragraph. Please let me know what you think: What's unique about us is that all of these features are built around the core email group system. We believe that the type and style of communication an email group fosters is the best way for many groups to communicate, whether those groups represent companies, organizations, communities, or hobbyists. Combining the ease of email with the features available on the web, Groups.io strives to be the ultimate communications venue for everyone. I think it may have been more involved than just Linode: at the same time and roughly the same duration I was unable to resolve DNS using servers 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 from San Francisco. Just saying…

Hi All,
FYI, Linode, our provider is having some sort of internal network issue. By their description, I wouldn't think it would affect us, but we had a network issue around 2:28pm pacific time that lasted about 4 minutes. During this time it was difficult to use the website. We appear to be back to normal, but Linode's status page still lists an outage.

Not only does the notice fail to populate when selected, but the toolbar is missing. And if I manually type anything in the "Customize Message" field it does not cross-populate into the "Message to be Sent" box above like it used to. The only thing I can think of is that I accepted some Windows Update stuff last evening. Why that would affect the Direct Add screen behavior but not the Invite page remains a mystery. Regards, Bruce

, Groups.io strives to be the ultimate communications venue for everyone Right. The word "everyone" helps because although the current version reads "We believe that the type of communication an email group fosters is the best way for many groups to communicate" [emphasis added] and does not actually say that it's best for all groups, it still comes off sounding that way. So if email is the best way, why have the web-based features at all? It starts by stating (not even giving a plug for) the web-based features and then undermining that by saying, or seeming to say, that email is best. I think you could fix this by just changing the word order and damping down the enthusiasm a bit, something along the lines of "For some groups, whether they represent companies, organizations, communities, or hobbyists [speaking of which: aren't companies "organizations"? a little redundant here], email may be a preferable way to communicate." Currently it sounds like you're saying "Hey, we built this around the web but email is better." -- J Messages are the sole opinion of the author, especially the fishy ones.

Mark,
I read the "Why Email Groups" page and it makes some great points. But is there also a page for the non-email features? If you leave it at "Why Email Groups," it seems almost like an ad for yahoo groups, since the page points out the *superiority* of using email over web-based groups. Maybe just a change in title would help, and/or some language in the page itself, along the lines of why *also* include an email listserv. -- J Messages are the sole opinion of the author, especially the fishy ones.

Free premium group trials

Hi All, I just pushed a new update to the site. When creating a new group, you now have the option of a 30 day free trial of (almost all) premium features. Here's how it works:
Please let me know if you have any questions, or suggestions for improvements. Thanks, Mark

We have a single member notice of type Direct Add that we use to customize the notification email.
I went to Direct Add someone today. When I pulled down the Notices menu, the member notice was listed there, but it failed to populate the Customize Message box. I had to cut-and-paste it manually. This same function still seems to work properly on the Invite page. FYI, Bruce

One thing about tech, there’s often more than one way to do what you want to do. I’ll check on those suggestions.

Add page links to topics list
#suggestion
Ken Landaiche
Some of my Groups have topics that go for several pages. If I'm checking the latest entries, I have to load several pages to get there.
My suggestion is to add page links to the topic lines. So this typical Groups page (second pic) would add the circled page links exampled in the first picture. Thoise little numbers are each links to pages of posts in that topic. (and why do several pictures loaded at the same time come in in reversed order?)

Per @Duane's suggestion, I am tagging onto this thread with an issue I posted in the GMF regarding the Calendar Downloading Event feature not working properly.
That topic is here - https://groups.io/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/downloading_calendar_event/75529805 Apologies if I should have started a new thread. I'd like to also add this bit of info I found after posting the above message earlier today. I mentioned in that post that this weirdity also occurs when I download the .ics file then click on it to add to my calendar. If I open the .ics file with a text editor, it shows the same lack of ":", duplicate info, extra space, etc. Here is the DESCRIPTION section - truncated in some spots for privacy: DESCRIPTION:*Special TVAUG Zoom session...\n\n*\n\nWe are having a discus
sion about the health and heart features of the Apple Watch with Dr. xxxxx.\, a local cardiologist and electrophysiologist..\n\n*GUEST
SPEAKER * Dr. xxxxxxxxxx\n*TOPIC * She will discuss how her sta
ff and patients use the Apple Watch to monitor cardio activity.\n\n*Mee

pRUT09 ( https //zoom.us/j/96087945376?pwd=bzZLVEl2VE-xxxxx-GYmpRU
T09 )
In addition, if I go to the bottom of the Calendar, subscribe to it, then paste that info into my Google calendar, all its events with URL's in their Description fields have similar errors. Any ideas? Thanks! -chuck
