About half the time (can't see any consistent reason) hashtags do not appear in the subject line when moderator adds them.
They must be typed manually. Sharon

Hi All, I've just changed it so that moderator notifications are also not emailed to the moderator who generated them. Previously moderator notifications didn't generate push notifications for the moderator who generated them (this is still the case as well) but were still emailed to them. Cheers, Mark

Is there a reason that the json files that accompany the exported
image folders in the exported zip file don't include the Owner name that was associated with the folder on the site, along with the Title, Description, and creation date? Losing the owner information makes it much more difficult to recreate the original tree with correct attribution, whether re-uploading (for resizing purposes) or hosting elsewhere. It's possible to get the owner name from the thumbnail index of the Photos section -- so the omission can be worked around -- but it's way more difficult than it should be. paul =---------------------- paul fox, pgf@foxharp.boston.ma.us (arlington, ma, where it's 66.4 degrees)

Sure thing. Attached is a screenshot of my permissions on that groupThanks. That set of permissions gives me Moderators, Bouncing, Banned and Past which wasn't mentioned before. However, I can recreate the issue and I'd say it's definitely a bug. As you said, when the Ban Members permission is in effect, it works OK. Without the Ban Members permission you get this after clicking the Members option on the left side menu: You will note that there are 4 other options, including Banned, on the drop-down. If you select Banned here, then you see this: Now there are 5 options and this time it also includes Members. It seems Groups.io knows that the selected option is not Members (so it now appears in the drop-down) but without the Ban Members permission, it will not display the Banned list. The result is the malformed button and it still shows the member list. After further testing, I found it's possible to recreate this issue if either Set Member Subscription Options or Set Moderator Privileges is checked. I'm sure Mark will be able to resolve this when he returns from holiday. Regards, Andy

Sure thing. Attached is a screenshot of my permissions on that group. Without 'Ban users' permission, attempting to display users that are banned will cause the incorrect display noted. Enabling it will allow it to display properly. Rick

That’s true, since web/app won’t be sent to me. Also avoids the delay lol.

If I am not allowed to Ban members, the Members button offers choices of Moderators, Bouncing, and Banned. J,
It's the combination of the notification going to the person who didI don't find it to be irritating, but you can avoid both issues by choosing Web/app notification instead of email. Of course that has the downside that you (generally) don't have a record of the events that happened while you were sleeping or otherwise occupied. I say "generally" because your OS or device may have a means to keep and review a log of recent web/app notifications. Shal

DeniseD,
I thought we were given the option to have it go through the group orIt only goes to the group if the person who uploads the file checks the "Notify Members" box (and the group hasn't set #file-notice to moderated). Moderators can control if and how they receive Moderator Notices of various types through controls on their Subscription page. There's a summary of the Notification controls here: https://groups.io/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/21482 (the Wiki is public, no logon or membership required) Shal

That's true for browser push notifications as I understand it, but as you found out, you still get the email several minutes later.Right. And like you, I think the delay reduces its usefulness, and in the case of the notification going to the moderator who did the action, the delay makes it actually pretty useless (as well as irritating). It's the combination of the notification going to the person who did the action plus the delay. They compound each other. -- J Messages are the sole opinion of the author, especially the fishy ones.

I'm curious behind your rationale for this position. Is it due to the particular moderators you have in that one group? Why would it be acceptable for them to know who is currently a member, but not know who was either prevented from joining or removed for cause and blocked from rejoining? I can certainly understand why a group owner/designated moderator limits who can approve, remove, or ban members, but why would even knowing who wants to join be restricted information? I don't mean to be quarrelsome, just curious. You're right that being able to finely tune the moderator's abilities would be best of all. Rick
