Hi,

This has been fixed.

moderated Times shown in Feed list ignore timezone #bug #fixed

Mark Irving

When I compare my Feed page and my Your Groups page from Groups.io, the times shown for messages are not in the same time zone. For example, Your Groups shows my top message as 08:47 while the same message in the Feed is shown as 00:47, eight hours different. My display preferences show time zone UTC+01:00; just guessing the feed is stuck on Pacific Time PDT (UTC-07:00). I would expect both pages to show times according to my preferred timezone.

This issue is reported on GMF here and here.

I have not been able to receive Daily Summaries for GMF, this group or any other group for which I had Daily Summary set. This happened after the morning of 5/20/2020 when I received the last ones. I changed to Individual Messages and received those but I switched back to Daily Summary and now nothing again.

Oops, I mixed up which Safari goes with which OS,
I should have said:

OS X 10.15.5 Catalina is a 64-bit based OS.
It won't run on any Mac older than 2012, and in the case of the Mac Pro, late 2013.

If you have apps that will not function on 64-bit, do not upgrade beyond OS X 10.14.6 Mojave (the last 32-bit)
(My choice for my 2017 MacBookPro)
Safari 13.1.1 is the latest for this OS (and Catalina)

If you have "Storage Medium Type: Rotational"
(i.e. a Hard Disk Drive, HDD - rather than a Solid-State Drive, SSD)
it is advised to not update beyond OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan
(My choice for my mid 2010 MacBookPro)
Safari 11.1.2 is the latest for this OS

Patti,
I'll PM you but it's been determined that the certificate is fine and this is my safari. I can't even view videos on FB any more and even FB informs me that I must switch to "an up to date browser." Nevertheless, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth (pun intended - I know you're a horse person!) and may PM you later. I've even received a generous offer from another IT person on beta who's willing to hold my hand during the OS update (something I'm dreading;) Beta is wonderful!

Right, Patti, rhanks. It's clear now that it's my old version of Safari (forced on me by my old OS) that's causing my problem. I need to upgrade to Cataline but am scared to do it. It's becoming more and more clear that I need to bite that bullet soon.

Please send me the email addresses of the people not receiving the summaries (and their groups) off-list and I'll investigate.

That week I did fix a bug; muted topics had been included in summaries before, and now they are not. Maybe that's it?

Thanks,
Mark

moderated Re: The ability to resize all uploaded Photos, or even a a single Photo #suggestion

paul fox

I need to report back to my group about our Photos situation.

Can I ask (and I guess this is directed directly at Mark) what the
probability is of either one of these two things happening, sometime,
say, in the next few months?
1) Some sort of online photo resizing feature is implemented, as
discussed in this thread. (Solutions involving a one-time
payment included.)
or
2) Basic (free) group Photo storage is (at least) doubled.

Our (Wheeler and Wilson Sewing Machines) current situation is this:
- Our group is currently over limit, and even the very cumbersome
download/re-upload trick can't be used because even after
deleting the original, the Add button is still grayed out.
- A downloaded copy of our Photo archive takes 1.2G. If I bulk
resize that collection to 1024x1024, it takes just .25G, or
20% of its former space.
- The group was formed in 2013, so it took 7 years to collect
that many photos. We could go on as normal for a very long
time if we could resize, or if storage was increased even
modestly.

Our other option, of course, is to start paying. Almost more than the
cost, it's that the logistics of having to solicit the funds from the
members every year seems daunting to me. The donations feature seems
like it should help, but I'm not really interested in setting up
a back account and Swipe account. Is there a way to use the Donations
feature to have donations go directly to groups.io on behalf of a
given group's annual fee?

moderated Identify groupname and memberuid in activity log for "left via web" entries #suggestion

Andy Wedge

Hi Mark,

When a member leaves a subgroup or main group the entry in a downloaded activity log is just in the format "UserDisplayName <UserEmailAddress> left via web".  This is at odds with all other activities which identify the (sub)group name and memberuid. Can we have the (sub)group and memberuid details shown on "left via web" entries please?

I do a monthly analysis of my main and subgroups by downloading the activity logs, rolling them up into one file and using a few Excel formulas to extract information. At present it's not possible to distinguish between someone leaving a subgroup and someone leaving the main group because the activity log entries are the same.

Thanks,
Andy

Hi,
That‘s a pretty old version of Safari. Mine is 13.1.1 now. Could that be the reason?
Kind regards

This is my safari: Version 11.1.2 (11605.3.8.1)
Should I worry? It has a little lock symbol and then it says:
This Connection is Not Private. This website may be impersonating "groups.io" to steal your personal or financial information. You should go back to the previous page.

Then you can click on "Go Back" or "Show Details." When I click on Show Details, it says

Safari warns you when a website has an expired certificate. This website's certificate expired 1 day ago. This may happen if the website is misconfigured, an attacker has compromised your connection, or your system clock is incorrect. Your system clock is set to Saturday, May 30, 2020. If this is not right, fixing the clock may address this warning.
To learn more, you can view the certificate. If you understand the risks involved, you can visit this website.
Oddly, I was unable to copy the text to paste it here. I had to type it in verbatim. I didn't click on either link above.
Should I worry???
Thanks.

I use Firefox with the Multi-Account Containers add-on. I can open a different browser tab associated with a different container and have different accounts logged in at the same time. Switching accounts is therefore just a case of switching to a different browser tab. There are probably other add-ons in different browsers that do something similar but this one works for me.

Anyone who gets this error should be worried because it means whilst they haven’t been hacked, they are missing root or trusted certificate updates.

Whilst this means they may reject valid certificates, as is happening in this case, it could mean the accept revoked certificates as valid…

Thanks, Duane. At least I'm not alone, so am less worried that I've been hacked or something.

Hi All,

I will generate a new SSL certificate to address this issue, but it won't be until Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime, you can use Chrome or Firefox to access the site.
